Annual Friends of Ridgewood Emergency Services (FOREST) Fund Drive

Ridgewood NJ, Please check your mail boxes for the Annual Friends of Ridgewood Emergency Services (FOREST) Fund Drive letter which has been mailed to all residents and businesses in the Village. Your charitable tax-deductible donation supports the Ridgewood Emergency Services (RES) volunteer first responders in their mission to serve the Village.

Every day of the year, 24 hours a day, RES trained volunteers are available immediately wherever your emergency occurs. If you need them, the Emergency Medical Services Division responds to your
call for medical assistance any time of the day. The Special Operations Division responds to a myriad number of requests for assistance. Given the capricious nature of weather — and other
unpredictable emergency events — they cannot afford to simply hope for the best; they must plan, constantly train and have the right equipment to answer the Villages needs while ensuring that we
are prepared to answer your call. All this requires them to raise additional revenue through their
annual fund drive.

RES does much more than respond to emergency medical needs. During these past months, volunteers have responded to calls for trees and power lines down throughout the Village. RES
secures the scene for the safety of other responders and the public with emergency lighting, signs, and road detours and closures. We are reminded of severe weather in past winters, which required
our volunteer members to stay 24/7 at our headquarters in order to ready the equipment and answer
your call for help.

RES has responded to more than 1,899 emergency calls so far this year — which equates to 20,255 cumulative hours donated by the volunteers while on active duty. This does not include time spent
on training, meetings, and event preparation: a cost savings of well over $1 million annually to the Village.

By making a financial donation to FOREST, Ridgewood Emergency Services can obtain the equipment and training it requires. Please consider supporting FOREST with a tax-deductible
donation. Checks can be made payable to Friends of Ridgewood Emergency Services Teams (FOREST) and mailed to 33 Douglas Place, Ridgewood, NJ 07450. Donations can also be made online at www.ridgewood911.org. FOREST is a charitable organization under IRS section 501(c)(3).
