From the Bergen Beat blog on NorthJersey.com:

Bergen County Police Chief Brian Higgins Monday said he was relieved when a judge Friday tossed out a proposed Nov. 6 referendum on whether to merge the County Police into the Sheriff’s Office.

But Higgins added he is not necessarily opposed to seeing the issue go to the voters if there were more time and preparation given to the issue.

“I don’t know that a referendum is completely out of the question,”
