It just occurred to me though: where are these cheese-balls going to congregate going forward? Will they spill into The Office? Smiths? Mac's? Park West? Or will they take their act up to the Shannon Rose?

When I go out for drinks, I like a low key, bar's not empty but not full kind of night. I'm married so I don't need an abundance of single women, though a little eye candy is appreciated. MacMurphey's turns into a college party every summer (it's like a training ground for all the kids that will move to Hoboken immediately after graduation), otherwise it would be ideal. Smiths is nice but claustrophobic. I've never been in Park West. The Office is, well, The Office. The bar is too small but the high ceilings are nice.

Ridgewood is a suburban village and blend was always hopelessly out of place. Face it, the crowd was gross. Drunk Married guys looking for drunk married women. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but there are plenty of other better locations than Ridgewood.

As for new ventures, one can only imagine what this buffoon will bring on next. As dreary as place as Blend was, one of the earlier posts had it right. It attracted losers with money. And still the guy failed? With that track record, he is only going to attract more losers, and leave the Village with another failure.

Another case of a landlord killing the golden goose, I guess. I've seen it before.

That place was always crowded, yeah the crowd was a little older (cougar city), but guess what...that crowd has MONEY (especially here in upper Bergen). It doesn't make sense that the place was hurting financially unless the landlord was gouging and or the operators were skimming.

As for Ridgewood becomming another Hoboken: you could only hope for that. Your property value would double. A 1800 sf $500k four bed two bath in Ridgewood would easily fetch over $1M in Hoboken.

But Hoboken has a draw that Ridgewood will never have: location. So fear not. No 20 something Investment Banking analyst is going to mistake a 40 minute train ride from a town full of middle aged folks with kids, with a 10 minute PATH ride from a town full of similarly aged members of the opposite sex (and 10X more bars). Ridgewood is safe and sound as it is!

I digress. Blend was corny, I won't miss it. Someone please open a nice Irish bar with a bool table in the back! Thanks.

Now Ed Sullivan is moving on to another project. (2 Parking Garages) With the help of the newly elected Council especially the Mayor . It is no secret that Ed and many members of the Chamber supported Paul A for his re-election . You remember ( The Chamber is not endorsing any candidate) And the Chamber President displaying a elect Paul A sign in one of his vacant story window in the CBD. Well its payback time folks. And we are the ones that are going to pay. Don't worry Ridgewood is the new Hoboken with two big parking garage and three large housing project in the CBD Be careful what you wish for.
