Concerns about proposed cell tower
by Doug Goodell
To the Editor:
There is currently an application by T-Mobile for extreme variances to construct a cell tower in Ridgewood in the area of Barnet/First/Maple. Objection to this application has been characterized a “Not-In-My-Back-Yard” situation. But there are very real issues here that have widespread significance for the village as a whole.
One thing at stake here is the issue of by whom and how are the characteristics of the village and its neighborhoods established, maintained and preserved. This tower comes nowhere close to fitting within the zoning requirements or physical character of the area. Indeed, it requires a major use variance and extreme physical variances – 300 to 400 percent in height, for example. This should be subject to consideration and review by the entire community, but that is not happening in this case.

We don’t have room for cell towers.
if they are going to be stuck around town, lets be honest about it and errect a huge cell tower structure in the middle of Veterans’ field where we can all experience how ugly they trully are.
Would love to hear the VC candidates weigh in on this.
