On Tuesday March 12, 2019, Glen Rock Public Schools will hold a bond referendum vote to make essential improvements to our four elementary schools, the Media Center at the high school/middle school, and the playing field behind Alexander Hamilton Elementary School. This proposal was selected to include projects that directly connect to the Board’s goal of:
“Support district initiatives that enhance the safety, health, and well-being of our staff and students, thus enabling every student to achieve their fullest potential as lifetime learners.”
This proposal also addresses some of the needs that were identified in a community survey that was presented to the Board of Education in 2016.
The referendum includes air conditioning (AC) installation at all four elementary schools in spaces where AC does not currently exist, update and renovate the high school/middle school media center, the renovation of Central Elementary School auditorium, and the reconditioning of the sports field at Hamilton Elementary School. For more detail on each project, please click here and refer to question number one under the FAQ’s.
The total cost of the referendum projects is $14,718,320, however Glen Rock is projected to receive $4,503,430 from the New Jersey Department of Education debt service aid reducing the taxpayers’ share of the bond project to $10,214,890. The estimated tax impact on an average assessed home valued at $563,170 would be $175.20/year or $14.60/month.
