Leaf Information – Collection Begins October 22 in Area A

Leaf season begins in Area A on Monday, October 22th , Area B on Wednesday, October 24th , Area C on Monday October 29th, and Area D on Wednesday, October 31st. Please check the Village calendar or the Village website for remaining scheduled dates for your area.

We will be enforcing the DEP 7 day rule which means that you can place your leaves in the street no earlier than 7 days prior to your scheduled pick up date.

VEGATATIVE WASTE – Mum plants & pumpkins can be included with leaves but nothing with attached wires.

BRUSH and BRANCHES may NOT be mixed with leaves and will NOT be picked up during leaf season. To dispose, please bring them to the Recycle Center, 205 E. Glen Avenue.

LEAF GUIDELINES NOTICE IN TAX BILLS?

You may have received a notice included in your recent tax bill regarding Leaf Collection Guidelines. The information regarding not placing leaves in certain street has been rescinded and will NOT take place.

We encourage you, if you employ the services of a landscape company, to communicate the scheduled pick up dates for your area. We also remind you that landscapers must be registered annually with the Village of Ridgewood.

Rumor has it that Ridgewood will be hiring extra people to give out leaf tickets rather than extra workers to help pick leaves up.

yes that’s true. the street dept is down to 7 workers from 13 just two years a go. and they had 27 workers in 1995. so know they hire a few part time helpers to help the street crew out but in the end it’s very little help. the mayor and council think the crew can do more with less . that’s a lot less in my book. tax money not at work. what are they doing with all that money that was used for pay roll. hummmmmm. this is not good for you and I that pay taxes for service. you can not do all the work and keep up with 7 workers. I wonder what happens if we get a snow storm in the end of oct or early
nov. are they working any saturday’s like they did in the past.

o well people if you still see leaves on the roads in jan blame it on the manager mayor and council for not replacing workers when they left. 7 road crew workers can not do the work of 25. I,am in town for over 40,years and this is bull shit. the fire and police are not in a jam like this. the top managers think if they put on a few part time help it will be o k no way. they don’t know the ropes . people services will not get hurt if we have a lay off. yea hello. it did . they need to fix this. the street dept lost 6 worker ‘s since the lay off’s yes they moved 2 workers from other dept’s. that’s it. and for parks and shade tree dept what a shame. no one is left.

Yes but -
when – schedule is confusing, I agree. Once a week on the yard waste schedule that we all know and love would be good. No huge debris piles.
where?- in street (antiquated,dangerous, stupid and just plain rude to your neighbors)? Or on the apron?
how? – in containers, loose, both? Or do we have to buy bags?
what? – sticks, branches – only leaves?
who? – who is going to pick all this debris up? The few workes we have? Other towns to help?
why? – why pay leaf ticket police to harass homeowners (aka taxpayers) rather than simply hire more desperately needed workers?
