MAN CHARGED IN FRANKLIN LAKES ARSON INVESTIGATION

Franklin Lakes NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of KEITH KOEPPEL (DOB: 05/20/1958; single; employed as an auto salesman) of 770 Kingsland Avenue, 2nd floor, Ridgefield, NJ on charges of Aggravated Arson and Criminal Mischief. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Franklin Lakes Police Department under the direction of Chief Carmine Pezzuti.

On June 26, 2019 the Franklin Lakes Police and Fire Departments responded to a structure fire at 587 Route 208 South in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey. The investigation revealed that a fire had been started on the rear deck, directly below a broken window, and that an accelerant had been used to ignite the fire.

As a result of the investigation, KEITH KOEPPEL was arrested on June 27, 2019 in Paramus, NJ and charged with one count of Aggravated Arson, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:17-1a, a 2nd degree crime, and one count of Criminal Mischief, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:17-3, a Disorderly Persons Offense.

KEITH KOEPPEL is scheduled for a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ on Friday, June 28, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.

Prosecutor Musella states that these charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Franklin Lakes Police Department, the Ridgefield Police Department, and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance in this investigation.
