Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Participates in “Read Across America” Week

Hackensack NJ, Over the last week, members of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office visited fourteen public elementary schools across the county to participate in “Read Across America” week as part of Sheriff Anthony Cureton’s ongoing effort to continue strengthening ties between the community and law enforcement.

“Read Across America” is an annual reading motivation and awareness program organized by the National Education Association that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, 2019, the birthday of beloved children’s author Dr. Seuss.

Two Landscapers Overcome By Carbon Monoxide In Township of Washington

Twp. of Washington NJ, Representatives from OSHA are currently investigating a Tuesday morning, 12/11 workplace accident in Washington Township involving Carbon Monoxide exposure that sent two (2) landscapers to The Valley Hospital in critical condition. Washington Township Police and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Identification are also on the Pond Drive, Washington Township scene.

Three Family Members Hospitalized In Westwood Stabbing

Westwood NJ, Members of the Westwood Police Department and Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Identification at the scene of a reported Tuesday evening, 06/05 stabbing in a single family home located on Westwood Boulevard, Westwood. A next door neighbor of the incident location reported seeing three (3) individuals being taken from the scene by ambulances. Two (2) of the individuals were said to have been on stretchers; the third reportedly walked into a waiting ambulance. All of the victims are reported to be members of the same family.

Ridgewood NJ,  The body of an adult male was found inside of a recreational vehicle parked in the driveway of a Lincoln Avenue, Glen Rock home on Tuesday afternoon, 09/12. Glen Rock PD is being assisted in the investigation by members of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Identification and the Bergen County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Ridgewood Nj, Several Ridgewood PD patrol cars, an ambulance, a paramedic unit, and two (2) fire department vehicles responded to a single family home on Wyndemere Avenue, Ridgewood shortly after 9 PM on Wednesday evening, 07/05. Unconfirmed reports were that an individual was found unresponsive in or near a backyard swimming pool and was later pronounced dead at the scene. Police officers were observed marking the property with yellow crime scene tape as ambulance and fire department personnel left the location. A response team from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Criminal Identification arrived at the scene between 10:45 PM and 11:00 PM.
