Hawthorne NJ, A medical episode was the likely cause of a late Monday morning, 10/28, motor vehicle crash in the 500 block of Goffle Road, Hawthorne. Hawthorne Police, a BLS ambulance from The Valley Hospital, and a paramedic team from St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center responded to aid the adult male crash victim, whose injuries appeared to have been non life-threatening. A hydraulic lift tow truck removed the wrecked 4-door Ford sedan from the scene.
Fair Lawn NJ, Fair Lawn Police officers resuscitated the victim of a crash in which a passenger vehicle jumped a curb and hit the TD Bank branch located at 23-40 Maple Avenue, Fair Lawn on Thursday morning, 01/17. The victim was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center with the assistance of a paramedic team from St. Joe’s. A BLS ambulance from The Valley Hospital provided the transport. The passenger vehicle involved, a bright yellow SUV, was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Damage to the bank appeared to have been limited to accouterments outside of the main structure.
Hawthorne NJ, Hawthorne Police Department personnel investigate a serious accident involving a pedestrian on Goffle Road near the southbound exit ramps for Route 208 in Hawthorne on Wednesday evening, 12/19. The victim, an adult male, was rushed to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center by a Hawthorne EMS ambulance. His condition was reported to be extremely critical.
Fair Lawn NJ, Two (2) Fair Lawn High School students were injured in a single vehicle, Monday afternoon, 11/26, crash in which their vehicle wound up on the front lawn of a home located at 12-06 20th Street, Fair Lawn. Fair Lawn Police Department , Fair Lawn EMS, Fair Lawn Fire Department, and Fair Lawn Heavy Rescue units all responded to the incident. The two (2) crash victims were transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital assisted Fair Lawn EMS EMTs. The wrecked vehicle was removed from the scene by a tow truck. A natural gas line serving the home was compromised during the crash. A sub code official from the Borough of Fair Lawn was dispatched to evaluate the structure’s post crash integrity.
Fair Lawn NJ, A construction worker sustained life threatening traumatic injuries after falling through a roof mounted skylight and landing on a concrete floor 22-25 feet below. The incident occurred at Glen Toyota, 23-07 Maple Avenue, Fair Lawn at approximately 12 noon on Sunday, 10/14. Fair Lawn Police officers forced entry into the commercial building in order to aid the victim. He was rushed to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center by ambulance, which was supported by a paramedic team from The Valley Hospital. No other workers on the scene were injured in the incident.
Ridgewood NJ, The exact origin of critical injuries sustained by an individual who was found lying on the street in front of 15 West Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood, remained under investigation by Ridgewood PD and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office hours after the victim was found at 7:20 PM on Monday, 09/24. The individual, said to be a male, was rushed by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson.
Hawthorne NJ, A Jeep Wrangler and a motorcycle collided in front of the Wells Fargo Bank branch located at 456 Lafayette Avenue, Hawthorne late Saturday night, 06/30. Two (2) ambulances and two (2) paramedic teams were dispatched to aid victims of the crash, said to be an adult male and an adult female. CPR was reportedly being administered on the street to one (1) of the crash victims prior to the arrival of emergency medical responders. At least one (1) victim was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. Hawthorne Police requested assistance from the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit and the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office to investigate the horrific incident.
Hawthorne NJ, Members of Hawthorne Fire Department Engine Company #3, Engine Company #4, and Rescue Company #5 assisted in the Tuesday morning, 06/05 rescue of a factory worker who fell 35 feet off of a ladder and landed on the secondary roof of an industrial building located at 1 Loretto Avenue, Hawthorne. The victim was placed on a backboard and then carried three (3) flights down a set of interior stairs in a basket stretcher by Hawthorne EMS, FD, and Police Department personnel. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital assisted Hawthorne EMS with patient evaluation and treatment. The victim was transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.
Hawthorne NJ, Hawthorne Police and Hawthorne EMS responded to aid the injured adult female driver of a 4-door sedan that crashed into a utility pole on Route 208 northbound, just south of the Goffle Road exit ramp, on Wednesday afternoon, 04/25. The victim was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center with non life threatening injuries. A flatbed tow truck removed the heavily damaged vehicle from the roadway. PSE&G’s Electric Division was notified about the damaged utility pole. Traffic on Route 208 northbound was backed up for miles due to the crash.
Hawthorne NJ, A garbage truck crashed into a wooded area of Goffle Brook Park in Hawthorne after losing its brakes while descending a steep hill on nearby MacFarlan Avenue. The truck’s driver, who was rescued from the wreck by a Hawthorne police officer, sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson. A paramedic team from St. Joseph’s assisted Hawthorne EMTs with patient evaluation and care. Hawthorne Fire Department attended to a crash related fluid leak and remained on standby at the scene until the vehicle was safely removed by two (2) heavy duty tow trucks.
Glen Rock NJ, A mini van collided with a utility pole at the intersection of Heather Lane and Maple Avenue in Glen Rock on Thursday morning, 03/15. The vehicle’s driver was transported by an ambulance from The Valley Hospital to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson with non life threatening injuries. A flatbed tow truck removed the wreck. Glen Rock Police and Glen Rock Fire Department responded to the incident. A portion of Maple Avenue remained closed for an extended period while crews from PSE&G worked at the scene.
Fair Lawn NJ, A two (2) vehicle, Saturday afternoon, 12/23, collision at the intersection of Hopper Avenue and 6th Street in Fair Lawn sent a 4-door sedan involved in the incident crashing into a nearby home, and its adult female driver being transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital with non life threatening injuries. Both wrecked vehicles were towed from the scene. Damage to the home was minimal. Fair Lawn Police and EMS responded along with a paramedic unit from St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center.
Fair Lawn NJ, Fair lawn Police arrested two men in connection with a hit-and-run reported at 3:14 a.m. on Saturday. Officers responded to a report of a pedestrian hit by a car on Plaza Road at Fair Lawn Avenue. The Police found a 29-year-old Park Ridge man on the ground with what police described as significant lower body injuries.
Witnesses reportedly told the police they were crossing Plaza Road at High Street when a blue 2006 Volkswagen Jetta almost hit them. When the Volkswagen stopped for a red light while traveling south on Fair Lawn Avenue, the group approached the vehicle and a fight ensued. A passenger from the vehicle pushed the Park Ridge man to the ground and got back inside the car, at which point he was run over, the vehicle then sped away.
The Police reported that the investigating officers found the occupants from the Volkswagen in another car parked in front of the Wells Fargo Bank at 22-11 Fair Lawn Avenue. As officers approached the vehicle, the driver attempted to flee. The officers were forced to stop the vehicle at gunpoint and arrested the driver, David Rodriguez, 21, of Fair Lawn, and a passenger, Danial Dushaj, 21, of Dix Hills, New York, when he did not comply with officers’ commands, police said.
According to police the blue 2006 Volkswagen Jetta was later recovered at Rodriguez’s residence on Hartley Place and impounded.
The victim was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson.
Rodriguez faces charges of second degree aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of an injured person, leaving the scene of a crash with an injury, failure to report a crash, reckless driving, careless driving, two counts of failure to produce vehicle documents and failure to inspect. Rodriguez was expected to be sent to the Bergen County Jail.
Subsequent to the arrest, officers found marijuana on Dushaj’s person, police said. Dushaj was charged with obstruction of justice and drug possession, police said. Officers released him pending a court appearance.
Glen Rock NJ, Heavy Rescue teams from Glen Rock FD and Hawthorne FD worked together on Wednesday afternoon, 08/02, to extricate a seriously injured driver from a 4-door blue colored Honda that was involved in a T-Bone collision with a black colored SUV on the exit/entrance ramp to/from Harristown Road and Route 208 northbound in Glen Rock. Once extricated, the victim was transported by a Glen Rock EMS ambulance to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center. Two (2) other individuals involved in the crash sustained minor injuries. A flatbed tow truck removed both wrecks from the scene. Due to the severity of injuries sustained by the Honda’s driver, Glen Rock Police conducted an extensive investigation into the crash, which resulted in the exit/entrance ramp involved being closed for an extended period. A paramedic team from The Valley Hospital assisted Glen Rock EMS with patient evaluation, treatment, and care.
Ridgewood NJ, One (1) victim of a Friday afternoon (03/03 ) two (2) vehicle crash at the intersection of Ackerman Avenue and Bellair Road in Ridgewood was transported to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center by a Ridgewood EMS ambulance. The victim is reported to have sustained non-life threatening injuries when a Chevrolet Equinox apparently broadsided a Honda Pilot. Both vehicles were removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. A crash related fluid spill was attended to by Ridgewood FD personnel. A Glen Rock PD Uniformed Patrol Division supervisor assisted at the scene with language interpretation. There was no word as to whether Ridgewood PD officers issued any summonses in connection with the incident.
