Twp of Washington NJ, courtesy of the Twp of Washington Police, Bergen County has seen a wave of vehicle thefts and attempted thefts throughout the week during the overnight and early morning hours. Please do not leave your cars running and keys in your car. Please lock your car doors and NEVER leave the key fobs inside your vehicles. Remove all valuables.

Twp of Washington Senior Scammed out of $9,000

Twp. of Washington  NJ, Twp of Washington Police report that a resident was the victim of the “Grandparet scam” . According to sources a 29-year-old Bornx man is faceing charges after police say he stole $9,000 from a senior citizen using a scam involving a phony car accident.

The 82-year-old victim contacted police earlier that day to report he’d received “several phone calls from an unknown person who stated his grandson was in a car accident with a pregnant woman and needed cash for medical treatment,”

Unlocked Cars Stolen in Township of Washington

Twp of Washington NJ, Twp of Washington police are investigating two car thefts and more than a dozen burglaries of cars that occurred early Saturday morning in a series of what appears to be connected crimes.
Both cars were stolen around 1 a.m Saturday and valuables such as money, credit cards and phones were taken from the vehicles, all of which were left unlocked at the time.

The Washington Township Police Department Detective Bureau is investigating and urged all residents to report any suspicious activity in a timely manner and lock all vehicles along with removing any valuables and key fobs.

Linwood Ave in Twp of Washington Closed Starting Monday 9am

Twp of Washington NJ, TRAFFIC ALERT – LINWOOD AVE DETOUR – 5/20 – The Twp. of Washington Police Department would like to advise all residents that Linwood Ave. will be shut down in both direction begining Monday May 20, 2019 at 9:00 AM for approximately three (3) days.  The police dept. will establish a detour directing westbound Linwood Ave. traffic onto southbound Highland Ave.  Please allow additional time for your commute.

Parkway Crash Sends 2 Adults and 2 Dogs to the Hospital

Washingtonn Twp NJ, ,  Washington Township firefighters extricated two (2) adults and two (2) dogs from a heavily damaged 4-door sedan that had crashed head on into a guard rail before tumbling into a ditch on the Garden State Parkway’s Exit 168 northbound ramp. The human adult male and adult female victims were transported by ambulances to local hospitals.

Driver Losing Control and Hits Tree in Twp. of Washington

Twp of Washington NJ, The adult male driver of a Honda Pilot lost control of his vehicle and slammed head on into a tree in front of 100 Ridgewood Road, Washington Township on Saturday afternoon, 02/02. A Westwood EMS ambulance crew performed an on site patient evaluation, and then transported him to The Valley Hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries. The wrecked SUV was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Washington Township Police handled the accident investigation. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and the victim was alone in his vehicle.

Bus Fire on Washington Avenue in Twp. of Washington

Twp of Washington NJ, on December 28 at 6:43pm the Twp of Washington Fire Department responded to a bus fire on Washington Avenue. The bus had no passengers. Woodcliff Lake Fire Dept provided standby. Twp of Washington Ambulance Corp and Hillsdale Ambulance  also responded to the scene.  Twp of Washington Police handled traffic. Fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported.
