3 injured as Bobcat machine falls through pedestrian bridge in Hawthorne

Hawthorne NJ, A small bobcat front end loader being used to remove snow from a pedestrian bridge over Route 208 in Hawthorne fell through the concrete bridge surface onto the highway below on Monday morning, 03/04. The operator of the front end loader, a Borough of Hawthorne employee, and an occupant of a work van traveling on the highway were both seriously injured in the mishap. Route 208 northbound was closed indefinitely between Utter Avenue and Goffle Road in Hawthorne, Hawthorne Police , EMS and Fire Department units responded and were assisted by Glen Rock PD, and Wyckoff Fire Department. NJDOT representatives were also at the scene.

Two Alarm Fire Leaves Beauty Salon Heavily Damaged

Midland Park NJ,  A 2-alarm Tuesday afternoon, 12/18, fire heavily damaged a building housing a first floor beauty salon in the 200 block of Godwin Avenue, Midland Park. Midland Park Fire Department was assisted by Ho-Ho-Kus Fire Department, Waldwick Fire Department, and Wyckoff Fire Department at the scene. No injuries were reported in the blaze. Mildand Park Police and Midland Park EMS also responded. Wyckoff Police assisted with traffic control

Van Slams into Auto Repair Facility on Crescent Avenue in Waldwick

Waldwick NJ, A work van owned by a heating/air conditioning contractor slammed into a gas station/auto repair facility located at 11 Crescent Avenue, Waldwick on Monday morning, 10/15. Waldwick Fire Department and Wyckoff Fire Department personnel worked to stabilize the building after the vehicle was removed by a flatbed tow truck. The extent of injuries to the van’s occupants and/or employees of the facility was unknown. Waldwick Police officers detoured northbound traffic on Crescent Avenue away from the scene while emergency crews worked.

Wyckoff Home Hit by Car

Wyckoff NJ, A 4-door BMW sedan crashed through the front wall of a home on Harding Road, Wyckoff early Wednesday afternoon, 08/08, and became completely wedged in a first floor room of the structure. Wyckoff Police, Wyckoff Fire Department, and Wyckoff EMS responded to the scene. A flatbed tow truck winched the vehicle out of the structure and up onto the truck’s tow bed. At least one (1) person was reported to have been injured in the crash; no word from police at the scene as to whether the injured party was an occupant of the vehicle involved, or an occupant of the home. A representative from the Township of Wyckoff’s Building Department was also on scene.

Hawthorne NJ, Hawthorne Fire Chief Joseph Speranza reported that a burst 3-inch water pipe caused “significant” damage at a 3-story multi-tenant commercial/industrial building located at 85 Wagaraw Road, Hawthorne on Wednesday night, 01/03. All Hawthorne FD Fire Companies responded to the location along with a rescue truck from Prospect Park Fire Department. Fire department units in Glen Rock, North Haledon, and Wyckoff were placed on standby in their own quarters until Hawthorne units cleared the scene.

Wyckoff NJ, No injuries were reported by the occupants of a 4-door passenger sedan that overshot the exit ramp and crashed into a wooded area while exiting Route 208 southbound at Cedar Hill Avenue in Wyckoff on Monday evening, 11/20. Wyckoff Police and Fire Department personnel responded to the incident. The wrecked vehicle was removed from the scene by a flatbed tow truck. Entrance and exit ramps to/from Route 208 southbound at Cedar Hill Avenue, Wyckoff were temporarily closed while emergency crews worked at the scene.

Friday Night Multi-vehicle crash in front of The Barn Restaurant

Wyckoff NJ, Wyckoff Police, Fire, and EMS responded to a multi-vehicle crash in front of The Barn Restaurant, 359 Sicomac Avenue on Friday evening, 05/19. Non-life threatening injuries were reported by the occupants of a pickup truck traveling on Sicomac Avenue that appeared to have been broadsided by a vehicle leaving The Barn’s driveway/parking lot. Two (2) vehicles in the crash sustained damage requiring their removal by tow trucks. Wyckoff Fire department disconnected the battery from a damaged sedan, and contained a minor crash related fluid spill. A field sobriety test was administered to a driver involved in the incident. No word as to whether any summonses were issued, nor if anyone was taken into custody.

Midland NJ, Midland Park firefighters battled a blaze in a single family home located at 97 Busteed Drive, Midland Park on Friday morning, 03/31. Fire companies from Ho-Ho-Kus and Wyckoff provided mutual aid assistance at the scene. The fire appeared to have started on the home’s exterior and then traveled to the interior. No injuries were reported in the blaze.
