Public Service Electric & Gas Co. (PSE&G) crews will be replacing sections of North Monroe Street between Smith Place and Jackson Terrace in Ridgewood this week following damage that occurred  to a section of underground electric infrastructure resulting in leaking insulating mineral oil, which affected soil under the roadway.

Work is expected to begin on Wednesday, Aug. 22 and should be completed on or about Friday, Aug. 24 ,with no work will taking place during the weekend. Crews will begin work at 7 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. Traffic will be detoured to Fairmount Road.

The road work involves sections of the North Monroe Street to be removed so the impacted soil, which according to PSE&G poses no danger or health risk to the public, can be removed and replaced. The road will then be returned to it’s original condition.
