People living on Berkshire Road have cut down trees IN Grove Park so that they could have solar panels on their roof. I may be wrong, but isn’t Grove Park a protected wetland forest?

Doesn’t this set a precedent for anyone wanting solar panels in this neighborhood to do the same?

Ridgewood NJ, In case you are unaware Grove Park is a 32 acre forest and wetland property owned by the village of Ridgewood, NJ and maintained by the Ridgewood Wildscape Association. Green Acres funding was used to make the purchase .

Grove Park sits next to the residential development known by many as the “Lawns” , bordered by the path way of the Ho-Ho-Kus Brook and Saddle River to the south, Grove Street to the north and the Saddle River bike pathway and Saddle River to the east.

In 1996, and several times since the Ridgewood Sports Council proposed an idea to destroy a portion of Grove park for a sports fields. Residents from the nearby developments and the Ridgewood Council opposed this proposal as the woodland is environmentally sensitive and the remnant forest was preserved.

The park contains several trails, from the entrance on Grove Street, you can walk to the white trail which traverses the western portion of the park through a wetland area. Which is usually a spot for deer to congregate.
