Reader says a lot of blame for the CBD goes to the merchants 

If we are looking to attach blame some must go to people who try to open stores in Ridgewood with a faulty business plan.

How many yogurt shops do you need with in a block of each other. How many pizza parlors,bagel shops,pastry shops specialty restaurants, hairdressers,nail salons, jewelry shops can the CBD sustain.

One business that has a plan is Bookends. When his landlord who I may add owns half of the lower CBD raised his rent he tried to negotiate when that failed he simple moved across the street and is doing quite well. He also promotes is business and stays current with the times.

Unlike other business who fail because of a poor plan or landlords. Too many people and the chamber would rather blame government and not take responsible . Let face it for better or worse the “Old days” are gone.
