New grass blends are water retentive and need much less pesticide treatments. Grass does not need to be treated with antibacterial solutions and temperatures on the field NEVER reach the temperatures that artificial turf does when exposed to direct sunlight. But the biggest problem is that Maple Field is in an active flood plain. The extensive damage to the field was predictable and as we knew in 2004-2005 , it would be costly. Recent articles on the subject state that grass is financially responsible and is less toxic to the environment.

  1. God forbid we teach our children to live in accordance with nature of which they are a part, not apart from. Let them learn patience; the grass will have to grow before they can play sports sometimes. But how can they learn; the grownups? never learned.

If they cannot play on a team one day, will they be lost? Probably, because with full day kindergarten they will never have the opportunity to learn self reliance. An authority figure always looking over them. And then later ruled by the Internet. “What a wonderful world.” Reverie, an extinct species. Except for Debussy’s piece.

  2. Should have stayed grass to begin with. If the sports people want artificial turf let them buy it and maintain it.

  3. The turf field at Maple was ruined just days after it was installed by flooding. It sustaines more damage after every rain.

Back then the sports groups knew it all and turf was the only answer. We all know better now. Let’s ask them how we dispose of the green monster at Maple!

  4. It’s village property. If the sports people want artificial turf they can put it in their back yards.

  5. people I told u all to put the grass in,
