Reader says the Hudson Garage is to compensate legally for building LESS parking at nearby apartment developments

godzilla

Its most significant intended purpose, and the one motivating past council members, is to compensate legally for building LESS parking at nearby apartment developments. Otherwise why would Aronsohn & Co. have cared so much that they made a video about it (on village tax money)? DO NOT BE FOOLED. Garage is a boondoggle to end them all. We have enough to worry about re: property tax increases without adding this unnecessary, voted-down, impossible-to-maintain monstrosity (at any size). ADD retail space? No, please. Let’s just reconfigure the Hudson St. lot.

  1. You are out of your mind. What boondoggle? You must be the kind of person that’s thinks everything is a conspiracy. The town is need of a parking garage and to clean up some of the dilapidated eyesores that linger around town. If you are so worried about your taxes please move to a more affordable area and let progress move forward.

    Change is good…

  2. 12:14…. not all change is good but in this case, the garage as well as some of the housing proposals are sensible.

  3. What a LOAD with blinders on

Unlike bike lane markings which are eraseable… these horrific buildings and mis sited Garage scam are harmfull to everything the taxpayers have paid through the teath for in taxes for decades

  4. Que up Garagezilla .crayons out kids. This is where crime drug dealing muggings assaults will be prevalent.ever see a muni Garage
In five years. ? They are neighborhood busters filthy monoliths to the POLS and their cronies.build a bridge mid level attached to the garageplex out of town. Thats where the garage people will be speeding too.Fools we are not GARAGES ARE MAGNETS For the carless elements..would you send your teenager new driver up to the top
    deck. Insanity

  5. Could we use some more commuter parking? Sure. How about a couple of nice apartment building? Why not? They’re better than a vacant car dealership. Just be wary when people who stand to make a ton of money try to force 5 story garages and 35 units per acre down our throats as “change” and brand anyone who questions them as “obstructionist.” Come back with a plan for a 2 story deck and 20 units per acre and we’ll talk.

  6. I think if I hear “change is good” one more time I will puke. Some change is good. Some change is bad. This kind of change would be terrible. I wish people posting comments had to list their conflicts of interest!

  7. Please puke!!! Because this town is so stagnant and crippled by people that are so shortsighted and afraid to see progress.
This town needs to change .

  8. 7:42 might start with the mayor listing all of hers

  9. How many times do we have to say we don’t want a big garage.
Make it a two story parking deck and move on. This will help on the weekends and it’s already proven we don’t need it during the week.

  10. Have you been downtown during the week? you can’t find a spot. Again this approves my point how people can be shortsighted and only looking out for their best interest not the towns. Going to a three or four level parking garage is not going to change the look of downtown.

    1. This blog has well documented the ample parking available during week days , the big issue has been CBD employees not parking in the appropriate spots ,and valet parking taking spots from merchants .We will continue to document ample parking a 100,000 times if that’s what it takes . Parking for commuters and parking in late afternoon and weekends or during large events has been an issue .

  11. This blog has been one sided on the parking issue. Parking at any time downtown has always been an issue .
Keep your blinders on .The Ridgewood employees our part of the downtown. They are not going away. You clearly don’t use the downtown and see the chaos and confusion of the parking that is going on.

    1. there are 1000’s of photos all hours with ample parking sorry , no one said the employees are going away but they would help their employers if they stopped parking right infront of the stores and restaurants they work at

  12. You’re thousand photos really does not tell the story. Why to Ridgewood employees need to park somewhere else if there’s an open meter out front of the store? If they’re paying for the spot they have every legal right to park there. Do you start going around policing people parking and asking them if they’re employees? Your theories are baseless, you needs parking spots for employees and merchants. It is everybody can see there is not enough parking down town.

    1. why should Ridgewood taxpayers pay for a garage because employees are too lazy to walk and to stupid to park in the right place ?

  13. The garage would pay for itself.
You now have a downtown with vacant buildings dilapidated spots Eye sores that nobody wants to move into because there is no parking. There once was a time people were proud of the downtown and spend your afternoon shopping. Now all we have are people complaining about tax dollars . If you’re worried about your tax dollars move to a more affordable area that you could handle .

    1. yes lets all move out of Ridgewood so we can turn it into a ghetto, or better yet belivers in urbanization could move back to the Bronx were they will feel more at home

  14. It’s loooking like a ghetto now with all of run down and empty buildings. No one wants to spend the tax dollars to revitalize downtown.

  15. All our tax dollars go to the teachers…nothing left for the downtown or much else.
