With all the hooplah over the parking rates, new meter hours, kiosks, cops for utility work, etc, it seems like the casual scofflaw is being missed – and they are the ones that create the dangerous scenarios for pedestrians. Cases in point: u-turns into parking spots on Broad, Chestnut & Oak, speeds in excess of 25 going into and out of the CBD, and blatant cellphone use throughout the village by drivers. Until the police take a hard look at these motor vehicle infractions and ticket the offenders, pedestrian safety will be second to revenue production to fund Garagezilla. (Note to pedestrians…pay attention! You do not have a force field around you for protection, so take a break from your phones and don’t jaywalk.)

  1. I stay the heck away from the CBD…scofflaws, jaywalkers, ticket blitzing rookie cops, etc.

  2. I agree and beg my kids to pay attention it is every man for themselves here! Nothing is enforced by the cops except leaf, snow and water fines. The presence of police is missing thru out the town but you will see a bunch standing around for construction work and PSE&g work.

and they drive around on their phones as we tell our kids NOT to…do they not have blue tooth in their fancy new cars?

  3. Village police are no better than the general public when it comes to breaking the law. Lack of enforcement in the village is a joke.

  4. Look, the utility gigs pay a lot of coin.
And you get to cop ( no pun intended) a few Z’s.
It’s always been every man for themselves and good on you for instilling that in your children.
And they only make $130K a year. How’s one supposed to get by on that?

  5. We need a new photo. Didn’t Tre Voci close about five years ago? (I liked it.)
