Readers Not Buying North Jersey Media Group denial that letter to editor pulled

Letters to the editor are signed and by their nature (like editorials and op-ed pieces) represent opinion. Any reader who identifies a factual error or wants to argue a point can write a follow-up letter; this happens routinely in every publication. Dialog and debate are good.

It is not the editor’s role to make sure that all statements in a letter to the editor are accurate as it is in an article or editorial. In most newspapers the top editor would never see letters to the editor before publication at all.

More fact checking in Ridgewood News articles, which are frequently full of errors that could easily have been checked, would be most welcome. But letters to the editor? No.

  1. “The Ridgewood News was never asked by Mayor Aronsohn to “withdraw” or not to publish the residents submission.”

But, was someone at The Ridgewood News asked by an elected official to “fact check” the letter from Ms. McNamara?

  2. The fact that Paul Aronsohn has repeatedly stepped around answering the question indicates that he DID contact the Ridgewood News. He has been asked by various people in various e-mails and directly: DID YOU CONTACT THE RIDGEWOOD NEWS ABOUT MS. MACNAMARA’S LETTER? He has never once answered that question.

Seriously, if he had nothing whatsoever to do with it, he would have gladly denied it. Instead he dances around with e-mail replies that attack the writer, or he goes off topic and gets self righteous about not having elected officials work for the village. But he never answers the question.

The truth needs to come out about our Mayor. He is devious, deceitful, dishonest, and disgusting.

  3. The four D’s. Well said. He also gets a D as mayor. Or a D minus.

How about a fifth D? Deflective. If that’s a word.

  4. Let’s add disingenuous, despicable, and yes I love your deflective.
