Ridgewood NJ, Who do you call on a summer Sunday when you cat crawls into a storm drain and disappears? Who else but Ridgewood Fire Department.

Despite the use of a thermal imaging device and an extensive visual inspection, members of Engine 35 “A” Shift were unable to locate the cat, but presumed it to be safely hiding somewhere in the storm drain pipe that runs between Newcomb Road and the Ho-Ho-Kus Brook.

Firefighters also left several “Temptations” cat treats in the storm drain catch basin in an attempt to lure the wandering feline back to where its owner last saw it.

  1. Please.
Creepy Boyd taking pictures of these overpaid dolts ain’t gonna cut it anymore. My tax dollars are completely wasted on a paid full time fire department who’s specialty is rescuing cats and saving basements.
    I have fire insurance.
Convert to volunteer and be done with it.
The ambulance Corp. can do it so don’t give me any of your union lines of “there are not enough volunteers “ .
    Bullshit.

  2. Can the ambulance corp put out a fire? enter a building with fire and smoke conditions?
Yes they are there for the many EMS conditions during and after the fire situation, but they are not firefighters.

PS You are obviously a guy( I think ) that always had a stick up their ass growing up
and guess what??? your fire insurance premium is gratetly lower then surrounding towns due to having a paid department.

    PS you are an a..hole

  3. Don’t we get to see the cat?

  4. To the ftard first poster. The waste of tax dollars is the schools trying to educate your low iq offspring. I have lived here for half a century and there is zero chance of getting a sufficient number of volunteers. The ambulance can’t get enough to staff it during the day and that’s only requiring 2 people. Response time is critical. The rfd has always been prompt for fire and medical calls for my neighbors and those of us long time residents who subsidize you newby NY transplants and we are tired of your whining. The cost is minuscule compare to the money pissed away on sports fields, parking garages and th bloated school budget.

  5. To the commenter who said……..”My tax dollars are completely wasted on a paid full time fire department who’s specialty is rescuing cats and saving basements.”

Ok, so you don’t like paying for full time Firefighters, I understand. I can solve your problem quite easily. Did you know that there are 70 towns in Bergen County. Most of those town have volunteer fire departments. So all you have to do is move to one of those town, become a volunteer firefighter and bingo you will save a few dollars on your property taxes.

I prefer having a career and volunteer fire department, thank you very much. Our Firefighters are some of the best around. Just because YOU don’t want a paid Fire Department doesn’t me everyone else doesn’t. So take my advise and move and don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out moron.

  6. So sad James & Boyd only post the garbage and BS from the retired firefighters and Jimmy Bombastic the discredited Village thug

  7. Or how ’bout this: Ok, so you like paying for full time Firefighters, I understand. I can solve your problem quite easily. Did you know that there are 70 towns in Bergen County? Most, but not all, of those town have volunteer fire departments. So all you have to do is move to one of the few other towns with a full time fire department, and bingo you can continue to overpay on your property taxes.

Everyone thinks their opinion is the majority. I say we put it to a vote.

  8. Or how ’bout this:

For over 10 years you have been complaining about your property taxes. Has anything changed, No! Will anything change, No! No one cares what you think. Your pissing into the wind.

My suggestion stands, if you don’t like paying for full time Firefighters move to any one of the 66 other towns in Bergen County that have no career firefighters. Contrary to your belief, we will NOT miss you. And actually Ridgewood will be better off with out you. Bye Bye Charlie.
