Ridgewood School Rankings ,the Good ,the Bad and the Ugly

tradition of excellence

US NEWS STATE of NJ RANK:
.
Eleven (not even the TOP 11 BTW) of the top 25 on the list are magnet or Vocational schools (which is not “more than half the top 25” but I guess math is hard for you)
.
Also these PUBLIC (non-magnet) Schools are ranked AHEAD of Ridgewood:
#5 – Elizabeth High School
#6 – Princeton High School
#7 – Chatham High School
#10 West Windsor-Plainsboro High School North
#11 – Livingston High School
#12 – Summit Senior High School
#13 – Millburn High School
#14 – Glen Ridge High School
#15 – Ridge High School, Basking Ridge
#18 – West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South
#19 – Mountain Lakes High School
#20 – Tenafly High School
#23 – Northern Highlands Regional High School
#25 – Montgomery High School
#26 – Ridgewood High School
.
.
US NEWS NATIONAL RANK:
.
RIDGEWOOD IS RANKED #583 (almost below 600) in NATIONAL Rank
.
.
US NEWS COLLEGE READINESS (arguably the most important ranking)
.
RIDGEWOOD HAS A 53.6% COLLEGE READINESS rating (barely half of the students graduate as ready for college).
.
.
.
———————————
STATE OF NJ’s OWN SCHOOL RANKINGS
.
You are also ignoring that THE STATE OF NJ ranked Ridgewood High School as 83 out of the 385 NJ high schools.
.
Neighboring Glen Rock was ranked #13

(the top twelve on the NJ State list are specialized “academies” and vocational schools which have academic standards for acceptance)
.
Here’s some other (local) schools that are ranked higher than Ridgewood:
.
#20 – Pascack Hills (Pascack Valley)
#25 – Northern Valley – Demarest
#28 – Tenafly
#29 – Mahwah
#45 – Northern Valley – Old Tappan
#46 – Pascack Valley
#48 – River Dell
#52 – Indian Hills
#55 – Emerson
#56 – Fair Lawn
#60 – Northern Highlands
#61 – Fort Lee
#72 – Waldwick
#73 – New Milford
#76 – Bergenfield
#82 – Ramapo
.
Then Ridgewood at #83
.
But at least we beat out Dumont (ranked #84)
.

.
No Matter how you look at the data, it IS NOT good news for Ridgewood.

  1. Well, at the BOE meeting a few days ago, Loncto and Fishbein spent a long time maybe an hour showing a film of the new furnishings at Ridgewood High, how snazzy everything looks, and demanding close to 800 dollars for new windows for RHS or was it ED building. (They said some of windows were dangerous, so why not just fix or get new ones for those). Expensive beautiful furnishings are what makes for a good education, was the implication. Forget scientists and artists of all kinds who did not go to fancy furnished schools. Dr. Jonas Salk comes to mind. He had great teachers though. Oh, but that doesn’t count , does it. The teachers in Ridgewood demand gold plated health coverage. They can’t do with what most other people in American have who work for companies, options to buy different priced plans. The teachers are mediocre but high demanding with a big sense of entitlement.

The man at the mic at BOE meeting pleaded with Fishbein and Loncto begging them to “do the right thing,” and stop the insanity of paying so much for windows. The man, a resident , was having trouble making ends meet because of new property tax laws. AND NO RESPONSE FROM FISHBEIN AND LONCTO. NO COMPASSION. They ignored him. IS THAT A LESSON FOR CHILDREN TO SEE IN HOW TO TREAT YOUR FELLOW HUMANS. Just shaking their heads and repeating the windows are needed NOW. Really, I am appalled. I am an senior, an elderly woman, long time resident here, and I really don’t want to speak at budget meeting and make a spectacle of myself, but I just might have to. I was so shocked at what I heard and saw. I guess I will have to stop watching those meetings on TV.

  2. This parent is coming to the sad realization that this parent’s child, an RHS junior, has been inspired by next to none of that child’s RHS teachers. So many must be mailing it in by this point.

  3. It does seem our Administrators think that “pretty is as pretty does.” Our rapidly sliding ranks in everything but athletics cannot be corrected by having pretty surroundings to admire. Especially if some students are still forced to sit on the floor for lunch!

  4. Ridgewood high school is over already just like the town. It’s all over rated. The town is not like what are used to be. Time to sell your house move out, there are plenty of other Braytown’s next to Ridgewood. And of the story

  5. property prices very weak in Ridgewood given school rankings have collapsed but property taxes haven’t!

  6. Fishbein, Brogan, Loncto, and Gorman are all terrible and should do the right thing and resign.
