  1. Do not leave purses, backpacks, camera bags, laptop bags, etc. in plain view while parked in this facility. If your car is locked, they will smash the window to get in. Parking lots here are not safe at anytime of the day or night. This has been going on for years.

  2. I am SHOCKED. This is depressing. I never knew this can happen in Ridgewood. These things do not happen in the Bronx in the middle of the day let alone a small, cozy town in Bergen County. If this has been happening on a regular basis why is no one arrested? Why can’t there be hidden cameras in these places? If there is no punishment things will get worse.
And I am sorry but continually advising people to not leave stuff in their cars is insulting. It is suggesting we have to accept crime as a normal thing and accept that we have no power over criminals.

  3. we shud build a trap car for them with semi open
window pounce on them lock them up likely drug users

  4. To SHOCKED: Unfortunately, we have to believe these things have been going on for years. If we leave things visible, they could be stolen. I know it is insulting to the innocent to be forced to try to prevent these robberies, but they will continue. Look at the drug usage rate. These people have become obsessed with having a drug and will do anything to obtain the money needed. Their whole mental and social reasoning is swept away and people who were normally well behaved will become like a maniac. We must all become aware that this is happening and try to remove any tempting items from external vision. Yes, this means we are being forced to accept crime but we do not have to accept the criminals. If and when they are arrested they can be forcibly sent to rehab–or to jail if they are not addicts. For an example of the spread, our grandson rode with Hackensack ambulances and said they’d get at least 2 or 3 Narcan saves A DAY. Sometimes it was even the same individual! When they are not over dosing, they are looking for money to do so. Please keep yours out of sight.

  5. Sometimes I wonder what the police are doing besides issuing parking tickets. Yes, of course they should have a decoy car. Of course there should be security cameras. Can the town afford it though. They have to pay for cutting away the islands at the train station and developing the Schedler property.

  6. Set up a decoy…I’m in the park almost every day, I haven’t seen anything like the ‘smash and grab’ action described here…

  7. WE SHOULD BUILD A GINORMOUS GARAGE.
    .
THAT WILL REDUCE (ELIMINATE?) SMASH AND GRAB CRIMES.

    Yeah… that’s the ticket.

Ridgewood Duck Pond is a County Park and policed by the County Police, not Ridgewood.

  9. Your right anon. The other poster are clueless .

  10. anon

they our police and management should get on them

these maniacs drug fiends will be driving off with sleeping babies in the car to some chop shop possibly in Newark or Paterson. They are nothing more than drug slaves and. killers .throw the book at them .

  11. I repeat my message of earlier today – THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS AT THIS FACILITY. RIDGEWOOD PD AND THE BCSD ROUTINELY VISIT THE WILD DUCK POND PARKING LOTS IN RESPONSE TO 911 CALLS REPORTING SMASH & GRAB CAR BURGLARIES. DO NOT LEAVE ANY VALUABLES IN EXPOSED & VISIBLE AREAS OF YOUR VEHICLE WHEN YOU ARE PARKED THERE.

  12. <"…advising people to not leave stuff in their cars is insulting…"
    .
THIS is exactly what is wrong with America today.
    .
    Replacing personal responsibility with victimhood.

  13. This has been going on for a long time my wife had our daughter-in-laws van there with our grandkids some one knocked out the window In broad daylight they stole her purse license social security card credit cards the dopes never checked the envelope from the bank with the cash in it, the purse was found in the dumpster at Wendy’s in Paramus. Maybe it’s time to put up some cameras and get these scum bags off the street.
