Village Council Elections: Remember, I started this process by being in FAVOR of Paul

I started this process by initially wanting to support Killion, Shinozuka and Aronsohn. Like most people here, I’m busy and don’t always have the time to spend keeping up with local stuff. I’ve been making a big point to change that lately though –because I feel it’s become very necessary.

Initially , I liked that Aronsohn often seemed the only one questioning things on the VC and so thought it was good to keep him there. I actually believed some of the stuff he said..

I was wrong.

I no longer feel that way. And that’s not just from the Candidate’s Night stuff, it’s the outcome of a much longer process. I did homework, and the more I looked, frankly the less I liked.

That leaves me with a real quandary as to the 3rd seat and who to support for it.

I’m now leaning toward Pucciarelli. He has experience and skills. The Valley situation is a drawback regarding his candidacy, though on the PB he has recused himself from anything involving that issue, honorably so. If Killion and Shinozuka are on the VC with Riche and Walsh and are joined by Pucciarelli, the VC’s existing position on Valley’s current renewal plan would probably prevail. I sure hope so.

After last night, I also sure have new concerns about Aronsohn on the Valley situation too. But though it’s a big one indeed, Valley is not the only issue we face as a Village– far from it. And I have even more concerns about Aronsohn on many other issues too.

So I think all things considered I’ll probably support Pucciarelli for that 3rd seat.

Don’t waste your vote by NOT voting for someone for each seat– that could actually get Aronsohn re-elected. And – at least to me– that would be bad for Ridgewood.

Remember, I started this process by being in FAVOR of Paul.
From my reviewing and studying, he showed me that his way is NOT the right way for me, nor in my view for the Village. .

I actually THANK him for having shown his true colors so clearly and hope others see them as clearly as I do now and vote accordingly. If enough people do, he will no longer be representing us.

  1. Aronsohn relies on the power of stagecraft, developed I’m sure in the company of his early mentors in big-league politics. But he went too far when he pulled his bald-faced political stunt Monday. I think his takeaway was that if you vote for Killian and/or Shinozuka don’t bother to pull the lever for him because he won’t even make a pretense of working with them. I think his bullying closed the case and convinced many people not to pull the lever for him.

  2. Your observation about not leaving the third slot empty is a very good point–i was tempted to vote only for 2 people.

I agree Al seems to demonstrate many of the traits we want in a local official. However, throwing in his lot with Aronsohn is a very serious–perhaps fatal–lapse in good judgement and character assessment.

I wish Al would deregister himself from Mr A’s the “dream ticket” and make the case that he would work with the entire council, no matter who is elected.

    1. Absolutely. They don’t deserve Al.

      1. I saw Al at a coffee last night and he was great.

  3. Again with the sexist bullying comments. Sheesh what is this the 50’s? Women have the right to vote, run for office and actively participate in debates. They can defend themselves without their running mates campaign managers rising to their defense. It’s not chivalrous it’s sexist.

  4. sorry I dont agree Rude is just Rude

  5. It’s most important to vote Killion and Shinozuka only. The other 4 all have pluses and minuses going for them. You must bullet vote Killion and Shinozuka to assure they get in. A 3rd vote for any of the other 4 could raise their tally and knock out Killion or Shinozuka. Let the chips fall where they may for the 3rd slot.

  6. #3, I don’t know if Mr A is sexist but you might be right. But bullying, incivility and sowing social discontent is a pox on all people, regardless of race, creed, gender and faith.

  7. “who does #2 work for”

  8. Who are you?

    1. I am Jane Shinozuka. The new format on this blog is killing me. Sorry, if my name didn’t get up there the first time. My first point was posting about without your name…
If you look at #7, he/she addresses #3 also. Somehow what was #3 a few hours ago is comment #4 now. I think the #s get bumped when someone replies in direct response to a specific comment.

  9. Is that Al??

  10. Jane, what did you post?

    1. Sorry, I realize comment #12 is out of context. Only part of my comment showed up. But since you asked…

Commenter #4 attempts to “expose” the “fact” that Keith Killion and I are actually running mates. However, I have no running mate. If I did, I would have made it public information from the start. It might sound like no big deal, but by writing that this person is accusing me of the same kind of collusion and secrecy that Paul is being criticized for. I resent the attempt (by a person who won’t even give their name) to deflect the fall out of Paul’s controversial behavior, and subsequent supporter backlash, by accusing me of anything remotely similar. It’s an insult to Mayor Killion for the same reason.

Additionally, they call Killion’s campaign manager (a person I have never met, btw) sexist because he highlighted Paul’s indefensible rudeness to me the other night as an example of his overall embarrassing behavior at the debate. So… instead of acknowledging the unseemly behavior in question, #4 tried to deflect attention from it by saying it was actually a sexist assumption that I can’t defend myself because I am female. So in the end, no discussion of the real issue – just cheap shots at everyone else.

      1. who are you ?
