yoga

There are great achievements to practicing yoga, and more so, when you practice yoga at your convenience. The fact remains that you’ll never have to part with those monthly gym subscriptions nor the time it takes to get to the gym. Needless to mention is the fact that you’ll not have to fight for that personalized training, especially when you have those tricky moves that you’ll want to be addressed. Did Your Yoga Pants Cause Sea Pollution?

yoga pants

Researchers say cozy clothes are emerging as a source of plastic that’s increasingly ending up in oceans and possibly contaminating seafood.

March 15, 2017, at 10:28 a.m.

By JENNIFER KAY, Associated Press

KEY LARGO, Fla. (AP) — Comfortable clothes are emerging as a source of plastic that’s increasingly ending up in the oceans and potentially contaminating seafood, according to Gulf Coast researchers launching a two-year study of microscopic plastics in the waters from south Texas to the Florida Keys.

The project , led by the Mississippi-Alabama Sea Grant Consortium, will rely partly on volunteers participating in coastal cleanup events. It also will expand a year’s worth of data collected around the state of Florida that predominantly found microfibers — shreds of plastic even smaller than microbeads flowing down bathroom sinks and shower drains.

Yoga pants, Patagonia’s cozy jackets, sweat-wicking athletic wear and other garments made from synthetic materials shed microscopic plastic fibers — called “microfibers” — when they’re laundered. Wastewater systems flush the microfibers into natural waterways, eventually reaching the sea.

“Anything that’s nylon or polyester, like the fleece-type jackets,” University of Florida researcher Maia McGuire said.

Standup Paddleboard Yoga taught in Ridgewood

AUGUST 15, 2014    LAST UPDATED: FRIDAY, AUGUST 15, 2014, 12:31 AM
BY LIZ WELLINGHORST
STAFF WRITER

On the first day of class in late July, yogis could be seen practicing downward-facing dog and cat cow poses, not in a yoga studio, but on the undulating waters of Ridgewood’s Graydon Pool.

SUP yoga combines yoga poses with surfing and is practiced on 10- to 12-foot-long boards, anchored in the water by bags of sand attached to a paddleboard. The beginner-friendly sport of standup paddleboard began in the 1940s in Hawaii, when surfers made their way through the waves with a long paddle. In the short time it has been around, yogis have embraced a practice that seems to bring a sense of blissful freedom to the centuries-old earth-bound practice.

“SUP Yoga takes a lot of physical work, but just as much mental work to perform a simple pose,” said Andrea Powers, program director and yoga instructor for SUP yoga. “A student must practice patience, concentration and focus or the board will gently remind you to stay in the present moment. When you do SUP Yoga, there is nowhere else you can be.”

one love hot yoga

one love hot yoga

one love hot yoga is a heated vinyasa yoga studio. Vinyasa is a type of yoga that offers a variety of poses with a strong emphasis on the breath; the body flows and transitions into each pose with the waves of the breath. Every class at one.love.hot.yoga is different, allowing each of our instructors to add their own individual flavor to the classes.

Each member of our experienced and creative teaching staff brings something different to the table, while maintaining our shared vision at one love hot yoga: to support and guide you in your personal yoga practice on and off the mat.

At one love hot yoga, the room is heated to approximately 95 degrees. Incorporating the heat adds an element of detoxification resulting in total body rejuvenation and increased energy (not to mention an amazing physique!). A warmer body allows for less tension in the muscles, helping you achieve a deeper, safer stretch. It also helps you get a serious sweat going for a killer workout!
Stretch, tone, and strengthen individual muscles, while also discovering muscles you never knew you had!

The practice of yoga increases energy, develops focus, cultivates inner peace, and rejuvenates the entire body. At one love hot yoga we invite and encourage you to discover what yoga means to YOU and to experience the benefits of the yoga lifestyle physically and mentally in your everyday life.

Philosophy:
In our society, there are endless lists of stresses, demands, and anxiety to the point where we are so worried about what we have to do and what we forgot to do, we lose the most important moment – NOW.

Our philosophy at one love hot yoga is to provide a space where you can let go of the constant worries of everyday life and just be in the moment. Forgetting those demands during your yoga class and being in the moment will get you to stop, breathe, and embrace the present which is what our minds, bodies, and souls need now more than ever. So turn off the computer, sign out of your email, put down the blackberrys, and come to one.love.hot.yoga so you can forget yourself to find yourself!

Mission:
At one love hot yoga, our belief is embedded in the benefits of yoga for the mind, body, and soul. We work to provide a community for all yogis, at any level, to explore the unique blends of yoga that we offer and to introduce the yoga lifestyle.

Our goal is to challenge each and every individual that walks through our doors without them ever feeling defeated. We hold a deep respect for our clients who are looking to develop and deepen their practice by providing a variety of different classes, accessible to all levels
