Ridgewood NJ, West Side Presbyterian Church is excited to welcome Salute to Women in the Arts, a volunteer-run arts cooperative celebrating its 50th anniversary next year, to The Gallery for the month of December. Their exhibit – “All the Wonders of Nature” – features realistic and abstract artwork highlighting nature around us including prints, paintings and works on paper.

Realizing a need in Northern New Jersey for an organization representing women in the arts, Dorothy Perron and a group of concerned artists created SALUTE in 1974. At a time when female artists found it difficult to find recognition, SALUTE offered members an opportunity for fellowship and inspiration as well as opportunities to be seen for their creativity. Member artists meet in each other’s homes to network, critique works in progress, and encourage one another to grow as individual artists. Many artists have years of experience, while others are just beginning on a creative path.
