Ridgewood NJ, according Ridgewood Village Manager Keith Kazmark, “despite the rain, a crew of volunteers were out this past weekend with our Shade Tree Commission, planting saplings in the Orchard section of the Village. Thanks to all those who lent a hand promoting this important effort.”

Planting saplings is a crucial and environmentally responsible activity that involves the introduction of young trees or shrubs into the soil. This practice is essential for a variety of purposes, including reforestation, urban greening, conservation, and landscaping. By planting saplings, individuals and communities contribute to biodiversity, carbon sequestration, and the overall health of ecosystems. Proper care and maintenance are typically required to ensure the saplings’ growth and long-term survival. This practice plays a pivotal role in preserving and restoring our natural environment.

  1. Councilwoman Siobhan Winograd actually missed a photo op? Holy moly! Rain related ? I guess she doesn’t own a pair of rubber boots with platform soles.

  2. Before planting new trees, how about catching up doing maintenance on pruning, come on Nancy you must be five years behind on your list. We could imagine how many lists you have. Political list, emergency list, priority, to do, storm related, come on stop the bullshit.

    1. Surely you cannot finger point at one person for anything lacking with this committee. There is a whole team with Siobahn Winograd at the helm and Matt Rogers on speed dial. Get real.

  3. Agreed about pruning. PSE&G hired people trimmed in my neighborhood recently and all town trees are side heavy since clear cut straight down near the power lines.
And, Shade Tree Commission, stop planting trees under power lines.

  4. This is the most inept committee of the gazillion RW has. They do NOTHING. Tree canopy has been in speedy decline for the last 4-5 years for different reasons. On top of that PSEG massacres trees at will with no supervision at all. In addition to the ugly looks they create, they also create huge imbalances that sooner or later will kill the tree. The guy with the saw does whatever he wants. Ridiculous and insane. By logic and physics laws, there is now way lateral branches that shoot up can damage electric wires. But Winograd wouldn’t care would she?

    1. show up at a council meeting and state what you just outlined. Whino will always get the last word, but at least you can state what you feel. She gets away with all of this STC BS but she only cares about the sports groups and the fields committee. Shady AF
