Ridgewood NJ, on Monday, November 11, 2024 American Legion Post 53 will conduct a service honoring all veterans who have served in our nations’ armed forces to protect the freedoms we enjoy today. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in Memorial Park at Van Neste Square ,the time of the signing of the Armistice ending WWI on November 11, 1914.
Veterans Day is a time for us to pay our respects to those who have served. For one day, we stand united in respect for you, our veterans.
This holiday started as a day to reflect upon the heroism of those who died in our country’s service and was originally called Armistice Day. It fell on Nov. 11 because that is the anniversary of the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I. However, in 1954, the holiday was changed to “Veterans Day” in order to account for all veterans in all wars.

Let’s put aside our differences and bickering (at least for one day) and honor those who served/ are serving our country to keep it free. We enjoy our freedoms because of those individuals who fought and are still fighting for them. God bless them and our country as a whole.
If you can set them aside for one day, you can set them aside for two, or three and so forth. But since that’s not going to happen …
We can at least try.
