Anti-Mayor Groups Steps Up Attacks on Ridgewood Police Department

Village Council Meeting

…”The last gasp of those losing the argument is saying the conversation needs to stop “in defense of the institution.” See, for example, all those worried about “the institution” of the FBI that are railing against the President’s criticisms. I guess this issue is making Dear Leader nervous since her hit squad of cyber bully lackeys can’t shout it down. The worst political scandals are ones that ring true. #SelfServing seems to have hit that mark. For what it’s worth, you’re right: John Ward couldn’t get his son on the force. That takes being Mayor. After all, both of the recent mayors – political animals these pages full-throatedly support – have made that happen for their children. Instead of refuting the argument your point about Ward actually proves it.”

Ridgewood NJ, Wrong this is a direct attack on the Ridgewood Police Department , its union members and  the Civil Service system . You are claiming that the Civil Service system is a fraud, that the Ridgewood  Police department has hired incompetent officers  and  that that the town is not being adequately protected .

This effort by Don Delzio , former FAC members , and supporters of the 3 amigos is a vicious attempt to undermine police authority and indirectly casts dispersions on the entire police department.

As for the John Ward argument this one is one you , https://www.northjersey.com/story/news/bergen/ridgewood/2016/12/11/ex-ridgewood-officer-faces-dwi-and-other-charges-sussex-county/95227000/

  1. hope some of these posters encounter her son’s on a traffic stop. the motor vehicle code book is very long, extensive and therefore expensive…

  2. If Mr. Delzio or any other person thinks that there are impropriety in the hiring practices on the part of the Village of Ridgewood they should contact any number of state agencies to investigate.

  3. 7:41am, you left out the end of your sentence: “, or, if not, he should put the cork in the pie hole to avoid further embarrassment to him, his family, his neighbors, anyone who looks like him, other people named Don, other males, other humans, other hominids, other mammals, and other earth dwellers.

  4. Donnie the Douche

  5. The attached article makes me sad. People attacking the Mayor and people (council folk included ) posting articles in favor of a business is just hurting other people. Why bring the mayors kids into it, why bring a kid into that has nothing to do with it ( ward’s son). Mayor Knudsen is doing her best. She is one person with a whole crew fighting against her. Why? Healthbarn is a business owned by a New Yorker that was placed in a quiet neighborhood. If you support it and want to use it no one is saying you can’t. Just also be respectful of where it is NOW and why people are upset. Take a step back from your selfish behavior and come up with a solution. Help not hinder because all the postings in support of healthbarn are embarrassing the business ( I feel ) because NOT one person has said WHY it is good for Ridgewood. The business can still function and charge Ridgewood for the activities it sponsors if it were somewhere else and not changing the quality of life for a neighborhood. Maybe put it back at the Stable. There is a park, a playground and so forth that still can be used by her paying clients. If it is so loved by some think of a plan BUT do not dis respect tax payers who have had their quality of life changed and are seeking support from their council.

  6. You underestimate your fellow villagers if you think they are going to fall for your false equivalence: it is at the same time possible to be a qualified candidate and have your family attempt to tip the scale in your favor. We all know that at a certain level all candidates for the plum job of Ridgewood PD are competent. I’ve not heard anyone suggest otherwise but the “Staff” here. So it is truly only you that are casting aspersions.

As for #SelfServingSusan all she had to do was say “Out of caution I will remove myself from these conversations about the police, civil service rules and anything that could be taken in any way as having an impact the list of those eligible for the police force because I have family members on that list.” And we wouldn’t be having this conversation. Why didn’t she just do that?

Oh and 7:37, YOU are also insulting our fine professional force when you suggest they would resort to Gestapo tactics like unequal application of the law in retaliation for protected speech. Dear Leader and her cyber bully attack squad may approve of your idea but you owe the RPD an apology.

    1. keep bashing the cops , let us know how that works out for you, when you continually question hiring practices, with your debunked accusations and assert the Village could do better you are simply saying the Ridgewood police don’t really know what they are doing and are incompetent, I would suggest a public apology at the next council meeting.

  7. Don’t feed the trolls, PJ!

  8. I don’t know who Don Delzio is nor part of baseball, softball or anything else. I have lived in village for over 25 years, pay app 50k in property/school taxes and read and watch the meeting minutes etc. i have no agenda other then getting the best value for my tax money. The mayors actions as related to voting on any item should that could effect the police hiring status , ie residency, degrees, etc is downright wrong with interests of her on the list. It is unfair to the taxpayers as well as the other well respected police officers. All should go back and check the school board meeting when the mayor argued hard for extra help for her children. That these same people can now be found ready to be a police officer is concerning. Why isn’t their some college requirement? Why would we want a residency requirement ? The village is not that complex that local knowledge overshadows. Makes no sense.

We should get the best of the best for such an important job that will cost the village millions.

Through any clear lens the hiring of three of the mayors children, who couldn’t complete RW schools in a normal curriculum, and who had the Mayor argue for required residency has to be looked at as morally and perhaps crimally wrong.

RW has to start pushing back hard

    1. Once again your claiming the Mayors children are bad or incompetent police officers , not sure I have seen any evidence to support that , and this claim has been refuted and debunked , even in court the anti mayor brigade lost , so as I said before better prepare a public apology for the next council meeting to the Ridgewood Police and Fire

  9. 11:01am exactly which conversation are you  referring to? Knudsens sons took the New Jersey Civil Service test in 2013. One year before she was elected. They PASSED and New Jersey Civil Service applied the laws Ridgewood had in place in 2013. Nothing Knudsen participated in or voted on could change a pre-existing list. Your continued efforts to malign Mayor Knudsens were dismissed by the State Ethics Board for good reason. That’s probably it.

7:41am unless I’m missing ssomething, according to the newspaper a state investigation concluded the Mayor did noting unethical and dismissed delzio complaint. Again, probably because the State Civil Service list predates her time on council.

  10. I asked for extra help for my kid and he’s now a lawyer. How did you connect a parental request for extra help with an inability to do a job? Look around 3:01pm. Most Village parents are second mortgaging to pay for tutors. Take a walk through the library any day after school with all the teachers tutoring their own students. How much for that extra help? $80 an hour? $100?  Teenagers needing extra help in a competitive academic environment is nothing new and should be encouraged.

I certainly would vote Knudsen for mayor and not anyone else. This blog reveals the character of other potential candidates.

  11. 3:01pm Sound the alarm! Ridgewood students needed extra help! Seriously stupid and clueless. You should probably go to the board of ed meeting and ask extra help for yourself. Ridiculous.

  12. 1101, sure you have total freedom of speech, but I’m just suggesting that you follow the law as written and don’t expect any sympathy breaks for violations.

Seems to me you may live in a glass house. Maybe her kids are the ones who saves you when it collapses. Maybe even the ones who got extra help.

  13. They passed the Civil Service test. They passed a very hard physical. They passed extensive testing about their personal lives and thoughts. They passed a grueling Academy course (even including up-hill runs at Camp Gaw). They passed all the tests at the Academy. They were installed. They passed the months of probation when they must ride with another officer for final training. And they seem to be doing an excellent job of taking care of our community. Do you have any idea of how many applicants fail one or more of these steps?

In regard to extra help–one could be a genius and still need help in some subject. Math people often aren’t foreign language people and so on.

I am sure there are many more vital things to discuss in Ridgewood than Susan’s sons. Streets, parking. possible garage, horrible mess at Health Barn, future money pit of Schedler, the wall, I could go on forever. So, commentators, would you please pick something else to gripe about?

  14. Look we have a real great crew in the police department and fire department, they follow the laws of civil service. I wish we all wish that the rest of the town itself. The problem is they like playing games. And the other problem is most upper management no zip on civil service laws.
