Glen Rock NJ, a daring attempt to intercept an iPhone delivery in Glen Rock on Thursday resulted in the arrest of two men, police said. The suspects face multiple charges after one allegedly tried to convince a UPS driver to hand over a package without delivering it to its intended address.
The Incident
The ordeal began around 10:26 a.m. on Ridge Road when a UPS driver reported an attempted theft. According to police, a man claimed to be the recipient of an iPhone package and insisted on receiving it on the street, bypassing delivery to the specified address.
The UPS driver, suspicious of the request, refused to hand over the package. The man then left the scene in a white Jeep, but not before the driver took note of critical identifying details, which were provided to the police.
Swift Police Response
Acting on the UPS driver’s report, Officer Sam Evans located the suspect vehicle and stopped it near Maple Avenue and Cumberland Road. Following an investigation, both occupants were taken to police headquarters.
Charges Filed
The suspects, John P. Castellano, 50, of Caldwell, and Emilio J. Del-Orbe, 26, of New York City, face a range of charges:
- John P. Castellano
- Attempted theft
- Possession of tactical knives during the commission of a crime
- Possession of a controlled dangerous substance (anabolic steroids)
- Emilio J. Del-Orbe
- Possession of a tactical knife during the commission of a crime
- Possession of a fraudulent driver’s license
- Multiple traffic violations, including driving with a suspended license, operating without required mirrors, and failing to maintain vehicle lamps
The suspects were processed and released under New Jersey’s bail reform guidelines. They are scheduled to appear before the Central Judicial Processing Court at the Superior Court in Hackensack.
Another iPhone Theft Reported
In a separate incident, an East Gramercy Place resident reported an iPhone theft from their porch. On Nov. 18, the victim discovered that an iPhone package, delivered by FedEx on Nov. 13, had been stolen. Surveillance footage revealed an unidentified man taking the package shortly after delivery.
Police are actively investigating this case.
