Ridgewood NJ, Atlanta Falcons kicker and Ridgewood Ex-Pat Younghoe Koo has achieved a milestone, surpassing the field goal percentage record in NFL history with an impressive 39-yard kick. This accomplishment solidifies Koo, a former standout from North Jersey, as the new record holder with an outstanding 90 percent success rate, based on a minimum of 100 attempts.
Born in Seoul, South Korea, Koo relocated to Ridgewood during his childhood, initially engaging in soccer. Transitioning to become a placekicker, he emerged as a star on Ridgewood High School’s football team, culminating in earning the team MVP honors during his senior season.
Following a challenging season where he posted a career-low 86.5 percent field goal success rate (32-of-37 attempts), Koo has experienced a remarkable comeback in 2023. In the first 11 games of the season, he has missed only one field goal attempt, successfully converting 22-of-23 attempts.
The 29-year-old Koo is set to return to New Jersey this Sunday as the Falcons face the Jets at 1 p.m. at MetLife Stadium.

Who says Ridgewood boys can’t go pro!!
Coach Jerry, one of his favorites. Teams were good due to his coaching not due to the skills of the players.
Yep and many more of the coaches going way back all said it
