Hackensack NJ, according to Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco ,with the religious holiday of Passover around the corner (Evening of Mon, Apr 22, 2024 – Tue, Apr 30, 2024) , this morning the county executive  attended Sheriff Anthony Cureton’s Annual High Holy Day security briefing which brought together community leaders and law enforcement representatives from across our region to talk about public safety.

Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco thanked the Sheriff and Sheriff Chaplain Rabbi Joel Friedman for once again hosting this critical gathering as the safety and security of our residents is the County’s top priority.

Tedesco went on ,”What makes Bergen County such an incredible place to live, work, and raise a family is the vibrant diversity of the nearly one million residents who live here and it is critical that every single person feels safe to practice their individual and respective faiths. As I’ve said before, and will continue to say, Bergen County’s diversity is our greatest strength, and it enriches us all.”

He acknowledged the concerns felt within the Jewish community here in Bergen County and across the globe and said , “Please know that your safety and the safety of all our residents are paramount to my administration, the County Commissioner Board, and to County law enforcement.”

Tedesco explained ,”County law enforcement has spent decades building strong bonds and open lines of communications with faith leaders and houses of worship across the county. Much like we have done over the last several years across all faith traditions, know that throughout Passover, county and local law enforcement will be stepping up patrols around houses of worship. We are committed to ensuring that every resident, including the thousands of Jewish families across our county, can observe this sacred time without concern. To all about to celebrate, I wish you a very happy and peaceful Passover.”
