Bogota NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 28-year-old JAHLEA JONES of Jersey City, NJ on charges of endangering the welfare of a child, interfering with custody, contempt, receiving stolen property, and unlawful taking by means of conveyance. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Bogota Police Department under the direction of Chief Daniel Maye.

At approximately 5:59 a.m., the Bogota Police Department received a report of a fire at 320 River Road. Police officers responded along with the Bogota Fire Department and neighboring fire departments. First responders located an unconscious male victim inside the residence, who was later pronounced deceased at Hackensack University Medical Center. A female victim escaped from the residence prior to the arrival of police and fire personnel. She was evaluated on scene by emergency medical services and declined transport to a hospital.

The identity of the deceased has not been disclosed, but Mayor Chris Kelemen described him as “a very nice gentleman who was very kind and extremely proud of his family and the country.” A second person managed to escape before emergency personnel arrived, declining hospital transport after evaluation at the scene.
