Demarest NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 18-year-old JUSTIN M. URGILES of Demarest, NJ on charges of sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and assault. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, the Tenafly Police Department under the direction of Chief Robert Chamberlain, and the Demarest Police Department under the direction of Acting Chief Frank Visaggio.

Former Demarest DPW Employee Files Lawsuit Over Alleged Workplace Assault

Demarest NJ, a former employee of the Demarest Department of Public Works (DPW) has filed a lawsuit, claiming he was assaulted by three co-workers in 2022, leaving him permanently disabled. The civil suit, filed in Bergen County Superior Court last week, names the employees involved as well as the Demarest DPW, alleging that the department failed to maintain a safe work environment.

Bergen County and Demarest Collaborate on Intersection Improvement at County Road & Hardenburgh Avenue

Demarest NJ,  in a decisive move to enhance pedestrian safety and traffic flow, the Bergen County Board of Commissioners approved resolution 0484-24 at their May 1, 2024 meeting, establishing a shared services agreement with the Borough of Demarest for intersection improvements and re-signalization at County Road & Hardenburgh Avenue. This initiative, greenlit in May, underscores the county’s commitment to improving infrastructure in high-traffic zones.

Golden Age of Golf: Academy of the Holy Angels Wins Second Consecutive State Title

Demarest NJ, lightning has struck twice for the Academy of the Holy Angels Golf Team, the winners of a second consecutive state title. Golfers who played in the May 14 statewide tournament at the Raritan Valley Country Club in Bridgewater were Sharanya Agarwal of West New York, Olivia Lee of Closter, Eleanor Lim of Englewood Cliffs, Emma Bang of Paramus, and Inha Jun of Edgewater.

Solid Gold: Academy of the Holy Angels Dancers Win World Title, Olympic Medal

Demarest NJ,  Holy Angels is now the home of the World Champions of Junior Hip-Hop!  The week of April 23, the Angels earned an Olympic gold medal at the International Cheer Union World Championships, which drew 57 teams from 30 countries to Orlando, Florida.

AHA’s dancers were the darlings of the Universal Dance Association’s National High School Championships, where the varsity Angels earned their team’s first national pom title, and JV brought home its second pom championship.

Demarest NJ, Five top vocalists from Holy Angels will represent the Academy at the 2024 Carnegie Hall Honors Performance Series. Martine Alvarez of Chestnut Ridge (New York), Haedyn Brigati of Englewood Cliffs, Alyssa Finch of River Vale, Lilianna Garber of Mahwah, and Kiera Kwiatkowski of Glen Ridge successfully auditioned for the upcoming High School Honors Women’s Choir. Together with peers from around the globe, they will work with a renowned conductor to put together a mid-winter concert at this world-famous venue.
