Ridgewood NJ, During last night’s Village Council meeting, Rurik Halaby accused Mayor Susan Knudsen of personally orchestrating a web based smear campaign against his candidate (Alexandra Harwin). Halaby alleged that The Ridgewood Blog was being used “headquarters” for this activity.
Mr. Halaby referred to the Ridgewood blog in the endearing terms that President Trump was alleged to use in referring to certain 3rd world countries, who Glen Rock Mayor Bruce Packer invited to move to Glen Rock . He also referred to his friends and neighbors who read this blog , stating he knows who they are (does that mean all 30,000 plus ) in the most derogatory terms .
As for Alexandra Harwin the new face of the 3 amigos , she moved to Ridgewood in 2014 , her husband is a Rabbi from Washington Township who was very involved in attacking Mayor Knudsen during the “gay flag” controversy and is a very active member of Community Relations Advisory Board of Ridgewood and Glen Rock.
Alexandra is part of Emerge New Jersey a Democrat group that is involved in promoting liberal women and training them to run for office .
Ridgewood NJ,heard thru the proverbial grape vine and now confirmed that Rurik and Cynthia Halaby held a Meet the Candidates Forum last night at the Upper Ridgewood Tennis Club. They had a large turn out including Jeff Voigt, Paul,Aronsohn, Roberta Sonenfeld. Gwenn Hauck, Siobhan Winograd and Paul Vagianos.
Paul Vagionas spoke that he would not be running because his heart wasn’t in it but introduced Alexandra Harwin who is the wife of the Temple Beth Or Rabbi in Washington Township. I heard she was very well spoken. Then the group begged for others in the room to step and run in the upcoming election. There were sign up sheets for various campaign activities. It is all so behind the scenes just as everything Paul Aronsohn did when he was Mayor. She didn’t make the cut to fill the empty BOE seat, so I guess she’s going to give this a try. Washington Twp NJ, For the second time in less than one (1) week, an inexperienced tractor trailer driver was unable to safely negotiate a steep hill on Washington Avenue in Washington Township, requiring Washington Township Police to close a portion of the busy roadway on Thursday morning, 12/14, until the rig could be removed. Following consultation with an officer from the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Police Services, Traffic Division, Washington Township PD issued two (2) summonses to the rig’s driver. After issuing the summonses, patrol officers directed the truck’s driver to turn around in a nearby cul-de-sac in order to safely re-enter Washington Avenue. However, the driver was unable to successfully complete the turn around maneuver and the rig became stuck in a pile of snow covered leaves. A heavy duty wrecker was then summoned to free the truck from its predicament.
Washington Twp NJ, An inexperienced tractor trailer driver was unable to negotiate a steep portion of Washington Avenue west of Van Emburgh Avenue in Washington Township on Tuesday afternoon, 12/12 and lost control of the rig while trying to back down the hill. Washington Township Police responded and issued multiple summonses to the driver and impounded the rig for being unregistered and uninsured. A heavy duty tow truck driver freed the rig from its predicament before towing it to the impound yard. No one was injured in the incident.
Ridgewood NJ, Nine (9) high school students from the Immaculate Heart Academy in Washington Township escaped injury when the school bus on which they were riding collided with a Volkswagen Passat sedan at the intersection of Godwin Avenue and South Monroe Street, Ridgewood on Wednesday afternoon, 11/29. The adult male driver of the Volkswagen sustained a non life threatening injury, but declined ambulance transport to a local hospital. The school bus driver was uninjured. Ridgewood Police, EMS, and Fire Department personnel responded to the incident. A flatbed tow truck removed the wrecked Passat from the scene; the school bus was able to drive away on its own power. Ridgewood PD issued one (1) crash related summons to the Volkswagen’s driver.
