Hackensack NJ, Thursday morning at approximately 5am City of Hackensack Fire Engine 2, Rescue 1 and Deputy 3 responded on reported motor vehicle accident involving a pick-up truck vs tractor trailer. Arriving units checked for injuries and provided first aid to the driver of the pick-up truck until the arrival of HUMC Ambulance.
Firefighters assisted with packaging of patient for transport to Hackensack Medical Center. It was reported the pickup truck rolled several times after impacting the tractor trailer.
There was extensive damage to both vehicles. Route 17 S was completely closed for some time while the debris field was cleaned up and the vehicles removed. Firefighters applied absorbent to a large amount of fluids in the roadway and remained on scene until both vehicles were removed. All lanes reopened by about 7:30 a.m.
