New Milford NJ, a 69-year-old man with dementia miraculously survived a three-story fall from a window at Care One in New Milford, authorities reported.

Terrifying Plunge from Care Facility Window

Police responded to Care One at 800 River Road—formerly known as Woodcrest—at 6:08 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11, after receiving reports of an injured patient outside the building, according to New Milford Police Chief Brian Clancy.

Upon arrival, Lt. Bryan Mone and Officers Gary Lewis, Dan O’Neill, and Tom Foschini found the man conscious but injured, lying in the bushes on the north side of the facility. Despite the high-impact fall, the shrubbery helped soften the landing, police said.

Extent of Injuries & Emergency Response

The patient complained of pain in his head and legs. According to Clancy, he suffered a minor head injury and moderate leg injuries, possibly including broken bones.

Emergency medical responders from Englewood Hospital EMS provided treatment on-site before transporting him to Hackensack University Medical Center for further evaluation.

Investigation Reveals Patient Jumped Intentionally

Following an investigation led by Lt. Haggerty and Detective Sgt. Mattessich, authorities determined that the man had tampered with the window and safety bars before jumping.

While receiving medical attention, the patient confirmed to officers that he had jumped intentionally, police said.

Care One Takes Precautionary Measures

In response to the incident, Care One locked the patient’s room, stating it would remain off-limits pending an investigation by the New Jersey Department of Health.

This shocking incident raises concerns about safety measures in dementia care facilities and highlights the importance of enhanced security protocols to prevent similar events in the future.

Authorities have not released further details at this time, but an official review of the facility’s security measures is expected in the coming weeks.

  1. CareOne all of them suck! Their goal charge Medicare, Medicaid, and drain every last cent from the elderly. Daniel Strauss, owner, should be in prison!

  2. I thought Biden was at his mansion in Delaware
