Ridgewood NJ, Village Manager Keith Kazmark is paid $225,000 and some readers suggests that while earning this enormous salary, he seems to spend an inordinate amount of time posing for photos and posting on Facebook and Instagram. Why does he do so much self-promotion? Previous Village Managers simply did their jobs without all the horn tooting. This is not part of his job description, and surely he could be spending the time doing the job he is paid to do He is not an elected official; he is the hired help. Stop with the selfies and get back to work Mr Kazmark .

I don’t really have a horse in this race, but I will say that I have had the necessity to engage Kazmark on a couple of issues and he has been super professional and quite timely in his responses. He is seemingly a pretty good guy.

He is used to being a mayor where photos of what you are engaged in is good for public interest. I think it isn’t what we in Ridgewood are used to, so seeing him all over the place like a “Where’s Waldo” post leads people to believe that there is a new sheriff in town and he likes that kind of self promotion. If he is still able to do his job effectively while running all over town taking photos that is one thing. My issue is more that he engages in social media posts and that seems to take up excessive amounts of his time. He is probably a good delegator which frees up his time to do it all.

Whatever we say about Roberta – she was spending her own money too – and the tax increases were close to zero during her time.
Now both of your decision makers – BOE super and Village manager are outsiders. They don’t have skin in the game. So be ready for higher taxes – especially because the village manager, who was the campaign manager for Paul Vagianos is tasked to make Paul look popular for Paul’s elections – so he’s on a spending spree aka tax increase.

I would vastly prefer to have as many village employees as possible be residents of the town, as village council members must be. It really makes a difference, not only in attitude but also in response time. This applies even to the pool manager at Graydon.
Hey, listen, he’s off to a decent start, he gets involved. Yes, experience and hopefully that will help the village. In the past at times, you never seen the village manager out of the office because they were way too busy. I think we would all like to see the mayor Council manager getting involved with more day to operations , just like what you see happening in Patterson, Newark, Hoboken, Jersey City, and New York City. It doesn’t matter if you like these people or not, you have to give them an for effort for attending being out with the employees that’s how you get respect, would we like the village manager and the mayor to ride alongside the employees yes so they have an understanding of what the hell is going on and what the crews need. maybe it’s manpower, maybe it’s equipment, maybe it’s tools, so on. got them going in the back of a yard waste , sanitation, recycling, truck and see how heavy the barrels are. OSHA rules say 55 pounds. Meanwhile, some of these barrels are over 100, then you wonder why employees get hurt, and no one‘s doing a damn thing about resident putting out heavy Barrels full of debris. And no one better come back up with thumbs down if so, you have your head up your ass and if you would like. I will meet up with you anytime to discuss this matter.

We would love to see an all-time mayor manager like years ago. Remember when the mayor used to ride around an old police car with a radio he knew exactly what was going on. It’s called hands-on. They don’t teach students school today. Most of these new foreman/supervisors management, just don’t have it. In their mind I think they do. That’s why they are delusional.

Well, it’s good to see not everyone falling in line with the usual ‘blame and complain’ malcontents. First we’re criticizing his “style,” and now he’s on social media too much … how long before we start raising questions about the real reason why his head is bald?
It isn’t blame and complain, it is called accountability and not letting these bad actors on the council, who Keith will protect at all costs, while trying to make others look bad, you know, those residents who pay taxes that pay his salary…yes, those people are the ones who need to hold this municipality accountable to work on everyone’s behalf and not their special interest projects like fields, enhancing Healthbarn’s activities, sidewalks or no sidewalks because of relationships, etc.
This is how you engage the community. This is how you reach many residents, especially the under 40 crowd. It actually takes very little time to use social media effectively. If the original complainer knew more about the use of social media he/she would not have whined.
He is also doing a good job.
Keith is spending hours with rebuttals to resident comments. Know your facts before you comment.
Social media provide a lazy and unacceptable way for a person at that level to communicate with residents. A very large proportion do not use social media or want to, but deserve to know what’s happening. A website or blog accessible to all without “joining” would be far more appropriate.
He’s Vagiano’s campaign manager. He got this job because of Vagianos and he OWES it to Paul.
He’s doing Paul’s election bidding for November.

Pavilion is an enormous waste of money at a belt-tightening time that I believe will come back to haunt him and the council.

Janet Fricke fails again. And again. This and previous managers should have replaced her on day one. Golden opportunity to clean house was lost twice.
His true colors will come out, it’s all smoke and mirrors with him, just ask the people who worked with him in Elmwood Park . He’s Paul’s Puppet because of his connections in Trenton. If the Village residents do the right thing and Vote Pee wee and Pam out, he will be gone!

Yes, we totally agree having every single village vehicle numbered, marked, and lettered. The only vehicles that shooting police department, detective bureau, only. We have been experiencing under our investigation seeing a blue Ford Explorer with plates on it with no markings on the door. Why is this? This is been going on for the past six months. This vehicle is used for foreman supervision. The street department Dpw. Mr. manager let’s get this taken care of.

Yes, you’re absolutely right someone’s trying to be sneaky without having the proper identification on the vehicle. We just cannot believe that someone will condone this. But that’s OK. Our investigation team has uncovered this. So now the mayor, the council and a village manager, must indeed to address this issue at once, let’s stop all this nonsense . We have eyeballs everywhere.

I knew of Keith as our mayor in Woodland Park. He makes good things happen. I have seen the great improvements made in Woodland Park under his leadership. He is a dedicated public servant. He is a politician, but he gets the job done – better than most.
