Wood-Ridge NJ, Wood-Ridge Police officers arrested an Elizabeth man on gun charges following a road rage incident in Carteret, where a firearm was reportedly brandished. Thanks to quick coordination between Carteret and Wood-Ridge police, the suspect was swiftly located and taken into custody.

Incident Details

According to Wood-Ridge Police Captain Joe Biamonte, the department received an alert from the Carteret Police Department on Thursday, January 23, about a road rage incident in which a handgun was displayed. The suspect’s vehicle was believed to be heading toward Wood-Ridge, prompting an immediate response.

Officers Torsiello and Castillo-Zaccone were given a detailed description of the suspect, vehicle, and weapon. Acting on this information, they arrived at 1 Passaic Street, where they located the suspect’s vehicle parked. Inside, they found a male driver matching the reported description.

Suspect Identified and Arrested

The suspect was identified as Ruben Garcia-Santo of Elizabeth, NJ. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered a loaded 9mm handgun, which was confirmed to be the same firearm reported in the Carteret incident.

Garcia-Santo was arrested and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. He was transported to Bergen County Jail, where he awaits his court appearance.

Police Commend Officers for Swift Action

Wood-Ridge Police Chief Michael O’Donnell praised Officer Torsiello and Officer Castillo-Zaccone for their diligence and rapid response, emphasizing that their awareness and prompt action may have prevented further incidents.

“Keeping the residents and citizens of Wood-Ridge safe remains our top priority,” said Chief O’Donnell, commending his officers for their commitment to public safety.
