Paramus NJ, quick action by the Paramus Police Department’s Emergency Services Unit (ESU) helped restore traffic flow after a serious rollover crash closed all southbound lanes of Route 17 near Route 4 on the afternoon of Thursday, April 17.
Rollover Crash Temporarily Shuts Down Route 17 South
According to officials, the crash involved two vehicles, one of which overturned and caused a complete halt to all southbound traffic.
The 18-year-old driver of the flipped vehicle was treated at the scene by Paramus EMS for non-life-threatening injuries. The second vehicle sustained minimal or no damage, and no injuries were reported from its occupants.
ESU and First Responders Quickly Clear the Scene
Specially trained ESU officers from Paramus Police successfully righted the overturned car and moved it from the left lane to the right shoulder, clearing the way for traffic to resume.
Paramus Fire Department Engine Company #4 also responded to the scene, assisting with traffic and roadway safety efforts.
“Our Emergency Services Unit responded rapidly and effectively to ensure public safety and get traffic moving again,” said a Paramus Police Department spokesperson.

The response showcased the seamless coordination between:

Together, these teams helped stabilize the scene and reopen Route 17 Southbound in a timely manner.
