Englewood Cliffs NJ, Councilwoman Deborah Tsabari resigned from her Borough Council seat Thursday afternoon, attributing her departure to personal attacks and bullying by the mayor.
Tsabari, a Democrat, had served two controversial years on the governing body, including pleading guilty to a felony. Her resignation was effective immediately.
Dear Englewood Cliffs Community,
Please accept this as my official resignation from the Englewood CliffsCouncil.
It has been my great honor and privilege to serve our community and meet many new residents. My goal in seeking election was to serve the entirety of Englewood Cliffs, striving to ensure transparency, fiscal responsibility and a constructive workforce. Unfortunately, during my time serving on the Council, the personal attacks and bullying by Mayor Kranjac have been endless and have dominated all public meetings.Mayor Kranjac also wrongfully continues to “mute” select council members on Zoom council meetings, in an attempt to censor any opposing opinions. I have personally been censored during both public and executive sessions by the Mayor. I am not a politician, I am a public servant. For these reasons, I am choosing to resign effective immediately, for the well-being of myself and my family.
I am thankful for the opportunity that I have had to serve the residents of our community. I continue to believe that Englewood Cliffs, my home of30 years, is an exceptional place and will do all that I can to protect and promote it going forward.
Good for her, pull the ripcord.
