John Hersperger
Ridgewood NJ, John Hersperger commented on the Ridgewood Master Plan on Facebook , “The master plan is the blue print for how all the land in the Village should be zoned and used. The Planning Board is the Village body empowered to write the plan, and to amend it. It’s vital we have the right people on the Council, since two council members sit on the Planning Board, and since the Council selects the other board members. Though the plan is already undergoing a major review, our planners’ job has gotten more complicated. Although the Valley Hospital, CRR and the Village have settled their law suit and have agreed that the Valley site at Van Dien and Linwood will be zoned to keep the Hospital the exact same size as it is now, a new issue has arisen that we all need to watch.
In a separate lawsuit between Ridgewood and Fair Share Housing (FSH), FSH is asking the Village to rezone ALL of the Valley Hospital’s Ridgewood properties to permit high density housing on all of them. This is called “overlay” zoning, which essentially means that all those sites could be developed into high density housing sites. For those who aren’t aware, Valley owns several large tracts in town, in addition to the Van Dien/Linwood main campus.
I have confidence that Susan Knudsen and Mike Sedon will have our backs on this. But I fear the other two candidates (Willets and Harwin), should they prevail, would put us back on the perilous path toward yet more high density housing.”
High density housing is a wave that can not be stopped The new governor is a proponent and will push it into RW and other areas
I do recall many folks saying we should support Valley to ensure they remain in the village Very short sighted and emotional people stopped Valley and allowed this easily predicatbale scenario to unfold
Soon we will get what we asked for The hospital will be gone and hundreds of new low income apartments will be in place
You got that right 735. All the NIMBY’s that formed the CRR have gotten exactly what they asked for. These people were so cross eyed with their vitriol towards Valley that they simply could not grasp the fact that their greed was going to bury them. So in their short sightedness they screwed their neighbor and claimed victory. Brilliant. You think your parking garage is crime infested shitehole? Wait until Steiertown is built on Van Dein.
Harwin = Aronsohn. She is running on higher taxes and higher density housing. Harwin says the garage size is not big enough and taxes are not high enough to pay for it. She’s just Paul all over again.
Really. So all of the shuttered business space on the east side of Maple Avenue near HoHokus that Valley owns and will never use needs to be developed for high density housing? That’s the Travell Elementary School district.
The Valley Hospital i/The Valley Health System is NOT vacating their property on North Van Dien. The in patient hospital is moving to Paramus, but The Valley will be using the property on North Van Dien to provide other heath care related services, so there will be no opportunity to build COAH housing there. Get your facts straight.
Boy this is going to backfire in everyone s face. Stop that stop valley, oh yeah now they’re going to Paramus. And all the land they bought in town. They own it and they can sell And they can self the old Valley Hospital to a developer and who’s going to stop them.
