Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck lifted its lockdown on Monday afternoon

Teaneck NJ, Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck lifted its lockdown on Monday afternoon after responding to a report of an individual with a weapon in the Metropolitan Campus north parking lot.

A notification on the university’s Facebook page informed everyone that normal activities could resume, with an additional announcement that “police will continue to patrol the campus.”

The Teaneck Police Department received a report from FDU security around 10:32 a.m., suggesting the presence of an individual with a gun near the Northpointe parking lot.

According to the police statement, someone informed officers that two individuals walking a dog had relayed information about a potential shooter in the Northpointe parking lot before leaving the area.

Upon receiving the notification, a shelter-in-place order was initiated. During the lockdown, Teaneck police conducted a thorough examination of the parking lot and the entire Teaneck campus, while the Hackensack Police Department checked the Hackensack campus.

The police reported that no suspicious individuals or activities were observed, and the dog walkers who initially made the report were not located.

Following the inspection of all buildings on both campuses, the university lifted the shelter-in-place order around 11:53 a.m.

Teaneck police, in collaboration with FDU security, are currently reviewing video footage across the campus to identify the individuals who reported the incident. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Teaneck Police Department at 201-837-2600.
