Saddle River Nj, the Saddle River Police Department Detective Bureau has become aware of a fraud scam utilizing (spoofing) the Saddle River Police main phone number  (201)327-5300. The caller claims to be “Detective Cooper” and will tell you that you have an active outstanding warrant, they may even provide you with a warrant number.  They ask you if you have been to Texas. While the may sound believable , please do not respond to the fraudsters questions and hang up. Call the main number for the Saddle River Police to confirm. If you have been a victim of this fraud attempt please contact detectives@saddleriverpd.com with pertinent information.

Spoofing a number is a deceptive practice where a caller deliberately falsifies the caller ID information to make it appear as though they are calling from a different phone number or location than their actual one. This can be done for various reasons, both legitimate and malicious. Legitimate uses may include privacy protection or displaying a business’s main contact number. However, malicious spoofing can be employed for scams, phishing, or fraudulent purposes, as it can trick recipients into answering calls they might otherwise ignore, making it a concern for telecommunications and consumer protection authorities.
