Glen Rock NJ, according to Glen Rock Police a Washington State man is charged with sexually assaulting a Glen Rock teenager who he met on the internet and began an online relationship with this year.

Thursday  Devin Curtis, 24, of Clarkston, Washington, was charged sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal sexual contact. The charges came after a six-month investigation conducted by officials in Glen Rock, Washington and Idaho.

According to the Glen Rock police, in March the parents of a 14-year-old contacted detectives on March 16 to share their concerns about a relationship their child was having with someone who they believed to be an adult online.

During the investigation police determined that the case involved child pornography, which Curtis received via text message. He was arrested on child pornography charges by police in Clarkston, assisted by Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force members from Moscow, Idaho.

At the time of that arrest, law enforcement officials were able to determine that Curtis traveled to Glen Rock in April to meet with the teenager. Further investigation into that trip found that a sexual assault took place in the borough.

In consultation with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the FBI made a jurisdictional determination that the Glen Rock Police Department should initiate prosecution, and Curtis was arrested in Clarkston on Tuesday , September 21without incident. Police said he waived extradition and will be transported back to New Jersey to face charges.

Chief Dean Ackermann states these charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
