Hackensack Women Charged After Physical Altercation with Minor

Hackensack NJ,Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of SUGELL BAKIR (DOB: 12/29/1979; divorced; insurance broker) of 66 Jackson Avenue, Hackensack, NJ on a charge of Endangering The Welfare Of A Child. The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Robert Anzilotti and the Hackensack Police Department under the direction of Officer in Charge, Captain Peter Busciglio.

On Monday, August 3, 2020, the Hackensack Police Department received a report of a missing juvenile who was under the age of 13. Upon locating the juvenile, Hackensack Police learned that the child had gone missing after a physical altercation with SUGELL BAKIR resulting in multiple injuries to the child’s face and hand. At that time, Hackensack Police contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, and their investigation revealed that during an early morning altercation, BAKIR pushed the child, bit, and struck the child in the head with an object after which time the child fled the area.

As a result of the investigation, on August 3, 2020, SUGELL BAKIR was arrested by the Hackensack Police Department and charged with one count of Endangering The Welfare Of A Child, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(2), a 2nd degree crime. She was transported to the Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing on Friday, August 7, 2020 at 9:00 a.m.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he and would like to thank the Hackensack Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
