HO-HO-KUS, NJ — June 23, 2025 — It was a scorching Monday in Bergen County, but that didn’t stop the dedicated volunteers of the Ho-Ho-Kus Volunteer Fire Department from answering the call—four times, in fact.

One of the most serious incidents of the day occurred in the evening when firefighters responded to an outdoor gas grill fire on Blauvelt Avenue. The blaze had extended beyond the grill, igniting the wooden cabinetry and structural components of the homeowner’s outdoor kitchen setup.

Thanks to the swift action of Ho-Ho-Kus fire crews, the fire was quickly extinguished, and a thorough overhaul of the area was performed. Fortunately, there was no damage to the main residence, and no injuries were reported.

🔥 Four Emergency Calls in One Day

In addition to the outdoor kitchen fire, the department handled three other emergency calls earlier in the day—despite extreme heat conditions—showcasing the endurance and professionalism of these community volunteers.

  1. Who was the contractor that used wooden studs?

  2. I don’t know for certain, but perhaps a garden hose might have done the job? Sheesh.

  3. All volunteers
See where I’m going with this?
