“Karens” are on the loose in Ridgewood – Racism remains alive and kicking in the Village of Ridgewood

Ridgewood NJ, two (2) recent incidents involving citizens’ requests for response by armed/uniformed Ridgewood police officers plainly illustrate the continued existence of overt racism in our own community.

On the morning of Monday, September 13, a female telephoned for police response because an adult African American male came “too close” to her and her child as she was standing near the 911 Memorial Plaque in Van Neste Memorial Park.  Police who responded observed no behavior of a criminal nature and identified the adult male as a well-known Ridgewood resident.
Approximately two (2) weeks ago, the Ridgewood High School (RHS) Athletic Director asked for Ridgewood police officers investigate a “suspicious” adult Indian male who was walking in the Graydon South parking lot at the same time juvenile females from the RHS track team were running through the area.  The track team members were reportedly “uncomfortable” with the man’s presence there.  Police responded and were unable to locate the “suspicious” person.
The Ridgewood Blog wonders why police are even dispatched to these types of requests for service.  Clearly, taxpayer dollars are being wasted just because some people (a.k.a. Karens) are still afraid of anyone with different colored skin.
It’s time to put a halt to the insanity and stop wasting tax dollars on frivolous police responses.

  1. Requests for armed & uniformed response to “a person of color near me” should be flatly denied. Fuck these bigots!

  2. The people who call in these ridiculous requests should be charged with misdemeanors.

  4. Karens are female Covid mask and antisocial distancing street-level shamers and enforcers.

It is cultural appropriation of the worst kind to apply this label to white women spun into a frenzy by bigotry and racism. Bad as their behavior is, and it is bigly bad, we simply cannot countenance calling them “Karens”.

Surely there is another first name that will prove suitable. So much work has gone into minting the appellation “Karen” and promoting public education about the societal ravages committed by Karens during the present dempanic. We cannot allow misuse of that term to dilute its power at this critical juncture in our country’s history.

  7. This is why we have cops. If you feel threatened, you call. Everyone has a different feeling towards other people, you can’t be too safe. No one is wasting taxpayer money because the cops are getting paid anyway. It’s not racist if they scare us on the inside. Keep calling if you must, what ? Are you supposed to wait until someone is robbing you to call ???

  11. “See something, say something “ doesn’t mean that you should call 911 every time you see s person of color. Jeez Louise!

  12. This article is a joke. There is an insufficient context and details to definitely say the calls were bigoted, lacked merit, or alternatively were justified.

As for the indian fellow, perhaps he was lurking? Again we dont know. However there are reasons we should carry some suspicions of indian men! See rotterham grooming gangs https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-45980210

  13. Hey Chris, should the police be called if your partner is trespassing on your neighbors property and cutting bushes that belong to that neighbor?

  15. If you want to be viewed as a respectable source of news, please consider not using ‘Karen’ as an adjective. Karen is the birth name of over 2 million women and girls worldwide and its disrespectful to all of them. When you do this, any point you are making is diminished because it sounds childish and says more about who you are than the behavior you are calling out.

No, that’s definitely racism. Like, textbook.

  18. Uh, and how many calls were placed describing a person behaving suspiciously as a Caucasian, or Asian, or by some other obvious identifying trait? You assume an obvious identifying trait is by definition evidence of a racially motivated act? OK. Manic media strikes again perhaps

  19. If you use or approve of the racist term Karen for denoting a white female then you are an anti-white racist. Period.
    No getting around it.
And by the way if I noticed a grown man of ANY color lurking around by my junior high school’s athletic team practice you can be damn sure I would be suspicious of why a grown man is hanging around them unless the man is one of their parents. I’d call the police too.
Better safe than sorry when it comes to the safety of my kid.

  20. At a BOE budget presentation, I was horrified and shocked when HSA members, upset at the special needs portion of the budget, asked if “there was a way to block special needs families from moving into Ridgewood.”

My family just moved to Ridgewood, yet I felt like I step back in time to 1960s Alabama.

After that HSA meeting, my opinion of Ridgewood has always been low. The huge sense of entitlement and arrogance to shamelessly and publicly display bigotry and discrimination to the weakest sect in society was beyond deplorable!

  21. Only racists see this story and yell “racism”
    They ONLY see that characteristic.
    They are the racists.

    It’s settled science.

  22. It appears that the good general rule of ” being aware of your surroundings” has somehow morphed with the addition of “your feelings” into a cocktail of over the top stupidity where rational thought is no longer commonplace.

  23. If they call police there might be a good reason why. Crime and crazy thugs are running loose in this country and especially in NYC and neighboring areas. Thugs are aided by imbecile politicians in city councils, and even at a state level!

So if there is complain: police should respond.

Proving once again that the media is racist.

  26. C u next Tuesday.

  27. Was Siobhan Winograd involved in the Monday incident?

  28. Tbh, that whole town is soooo xenophobic and the women are super nasty about strangers. It’s kind of ridiculous because the area is 100% safe and the chances of you just being able to walk away from a perp and let the police find them later is super high. Ridgewood white ladies are crackheads fr, they tweak all the time. Even the teens. They’re like, omg a stranger talked to me, I’m in trouble! Also, they complain about the homeless at the library and I’ve maybe seen 2 homeless in that whole city the last 30 years… like who are these criminals? And they vote blue? I’m so surprised.
