the staff of the Ridgewood blog
Ridgewood NJ, the high density housing continues to effect the Villager of Ridgewood central business district with taxpayers footing the bill. The main objection against the high density housing was all the ancillary coasts like police, fire, EMS, sewage , water, parking , schools and traffic .
Detailed plans for proposed improvements to the Franklin Avenue/North Maple Avenue Corridor may be found here. Quite a bit of construction work will be taking place. Expect major disruptions to traffic flow as the project progresses.
Despite nonstop denials downtown Ridgewood will face continued construction for years .
That’s gonna be a mess.
The County is entirely capable of screwing up a wet dream, and it certainly looks like they’re about to prove it.
the builders who benefit should have been assessed a ‘betterment’ fee
All we can say is it’s about time, because Franklin Avenue is a mess.
And the county needs to pave my St., Ackerman Avenue.
How will this work when E. Ridgewood Ave. is closed to traffic all summer? Will all east-west traffic end up on Glen?
I am so glad to see the long overdue improvements
I am so glad to see apartments in town replacing ugly vacant lots not providing any benefit to the town
We will have hundreds of new citizens walking in our downtown with disposable income to help our stores which Amazon us eating up
People seem to forget that each apartment pays a lot of taxes ! We are the high tax town. Just raised it 5 percent without a town vote and no one said a thing!
Get your priorities straight. High density smart urban living enhances the value of our homes. Taxes erode our home values
yes if the developers would have paid the ancillary coasts like police, fire, EMS, sewage , water, parking and traffic , like in NYC
“How will this work when E. Ridgewood Ave. is closed to traffic all summer? Will all east-west traffic end up on Glen?”
The geniuses running the town didn’t think about this went they passed the feel good, anti-resident street closing…
How about repaving Prospect Street that’s been a mess for years.
What exactly is being done?
Any buildings being replaced?
No one who is paying $3k plus for a 1Br/1Ba or $4.5K plus for a 2BR/2Ba will have disposable income. These apartments will be housing families who are only here for the years their kids can attend RHS. They will be eating in almost exclusively and NOT shopping in any of the downtown stores. If you believe in this developer’s fairy tale, I have a bridge to sell you.
I think there is king to be a 15 foot wide bike lane (green asphalt) don the middle of Franklin.
Got ride of the budget vote just in time for the schools to add more classrooms
“$3k plus for a 1Br/1Ba”
__________
Who’s paying this?
The Dayton on Broad street is $2875-$5230 / 1-2 Bedroom(s), 1-2.5 Bath(s) . . . 850 sq ft, 1 Br/1Ba, on the first floor with a glorious view of the parking lot and train is $2875.

The Benjamin on Franklin is similarly priced.

Yup, people are dumb enough to pay this to live, almost literally, on the railroad tracks.
What a rip off, do you see all the license plates in the garage, they’re all from New York City. Where they were paying out of the race for an apartment. Just ridiculous all that money for rent and at the end of the year what do you have nothing,
They will be jamming multigenerational families into these apartments and there will be NO ENFORCEMENT of occupancy laws.
Thousands of kids will be flooding Ridgewood schools…
And YOU voted to remove yourself from the School Budget process.
Mu God, we are incredibly STUPID in this town.
