the staff of the Ridgewood blog
Ridgewood NJ, whats this New Jersey school districts laying off teachers ? Perhaps the day of reckoning may be coming .
Its started in 2015 with Paterson School district laying off people ,now this year both Lakewood and Bayonne . Wherev there is smoke there is fire ?
Bayonne school board votes to lay off nearly 300 district employees

N.J. school district’s budget crisis could cause 119 teacher layoffs

Sooner or later you run out of other peoples money to spend.
Sooner the better, but i think you should start at the administrative level.
As much as I agree with these layoffs, I have no doubt that it will not be done effectively. Good teachers will be cut while crappy ones with tenure and all the admin staff will stay.
ok shut the school’s put 40 kids in a class, o well.
I agree with 6:59. We need to get rid of tenure and subject all teachers to annual performance evaluations It is so sad when good untenured teachers are let go and the dead wood only biding time before they can collect their pensions get to stay.
Day of reckoning? They are employees of the district, don’t be so dramatic.
Ridgewood does not have a surplus of teachers. Our teacher/student ratios are going up. That has a great effect on classroom learning.
I can think of 105 million reasons why classroom learning and teacher/student ratios should be improving in our school district, at the expense of reducing the number of administrators and tenured dead wood
I agree with you 9:58 and 5:07
