Ridgewood NJ, New fiberglass planters are now being placed throughout Ridgewood’s Central Business District by employees of the Village’s Parks Division. The new fiberglass units replace planters that were made of concrete, which subjected them to frequent cracking due to the freeze-thaw cycle. Gravel is being placed in the bottom of each new unit to provide stabilization because of their rounded bottoms.

Unofficial reports are that the larger planters were priced at $1000 each, while the smaller units cost $600 each. $20,000 in total was said to have been allocated for the purchase of all units. It is currently unknown whether the purchase was funded by taxpayers or via private donations. An official report of the planter placement project is expected to be provided by Councilperson Siobhan Winograd at an upcoming public meeting of the Ridgewood Village Council.

Just like her designer garbage cans. Welcome to expensive.
Great work Council!
Downtown is looking good!
These will complement the new Performing Arts Center and Pop-Up Park very nicely!
Downtown looks lik $h!t
These pots are so tacky
Yeah… this will end wel.
Why wasn’t the report by Miss Due Diligence presented BEFORE the planters were installed?
Does anyone on the council possess negotiation skills? $1k and $600 per fiberglass planter?
Hideous and unnecessary. More wasteful spending.
They need some graffiti.
pretend they are Teslas…
Leave it to Village leadership to create an issue where there wasn’t one. This poses a liability by obstructing visibility to pedestrians, particularly small children. Will also impede those with disabilities. They are also an invitation to discard trash.
Vandals will topple and these will become wrecking balls.
Fugly
DOGE Ridgewood
Such a waste what was wrong with the old pots. It’s about the flowers, not the pots. Winograd has to GO
where was common sense ????? a planter with a round bottom???????
EXACTLY WHAT IS WRONG WITH A FLAT BOTTOM PLANTER ?????????
NO ONE HAS COMMON SENSE WHO MADE THIS PURCHASE plus i agree it is a distraction for drivers in town
these are going to roll right over. There was a need for a few, not a fleet and. who the heck needs to spend $1,000 for each planter. What a waste.
Lots of cranky people here. Try being happy for a change. It was a beautiful Easter Sunday.
The planters look great.
Wrong priorities in this town. Planters instead of clean water and clean soil. I thought they were new garbage cans
God forbid in case of a major emergency such as a random shooting downtown, these things will serve as barricades, preventing people from running away.
Nobody goes downtown anymore, it’s too crowded!
And no shops left
Word is that these planters are being used as garbage cans since they contain nothing but gravel now.
It must be nice to keep spending other peoples money council and KK.
Yes, people are throwing garbage in them. Worse and more expensive than her designer garbage can idea which cost $60k
