Newark NJ, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo announced the arrest of YOURGHI TURKMANY (DOB: 5/15/98; single; and unemployed) of 31 Kent Street, Apt. 1, Newark, NJ. The arrest is the result of a month-long investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the New Milford, Washington Township, Oradell, Ridgewood, Ramsey, Franklin Lakes, Rutherford, Montvale, Piscataway, Newark, and Middlesex Borough Police Departments.
In July 2018, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Investigations Squad identified a pattern of gas station burglaries in the county. Proceeds included large amounts of cash and cigarettes. An information-sharing meeting was held at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office with detectives from the local towns that were affected. Leads were developed and the vehicle used during the burglaries was identified. After using multiple law enforcement databases, witness interviews, surveillance, video, and other law enforcement investigative techniques, Yourghi TURKMANY was identified as a suspect. On August 18, 2018, the BP gas station was burglarized in Washington Township and, shortly thereafter, detectives were able to identify Yourghi TURKMANY as the subject who committed that burglary.
As a result of the information obtained during this investigation, an arrest warrant for TURKMANY and search warrant for his residence were issued. On August 28, 2018, the search warrant was executed at TURKMANY’s residence at 31 Kent Street, Apt. 1, Newark, NJ and TURKMANY was arrested and charged with the following burglaries:

TURKMANY was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a detention hearing at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 31.
Acting Prosecutor Calo states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
